Digital season card passes at the riverside stadium

I was in support of the *option* to have a digital card, but have today (one day before the season starts) been informed that tickets in my section of the ground are now not transferable/forwardable so I cannot pass it on to a family member (who lives closer to the Riverside) when I cannot attend.

If this remains the case it simply won’t make sense for me to continue with a season ticket, I’ll just pay match-by-match for the weeks I can make it. Massive own goal by the club, can’t imagine I’m the only one in this position.
Sorry about that.

Honestly I think this policy is horrendous.

The club are treating the best and loyal customers with distain.

You need to email the club and them know pal.

There should always be a choice for people. If some want to use digital passes then fine but those that don’t should have the option to keep their physical cards. This is just a sign of the way the world is going with the push for everything to be digital. You only need to walk into a supermarket to see how they’re discouraging everyone from using cash, in fact some places won’t even take cash now.

I’d love to know which terms and conditions you think they have changed?

Honestly, no one I know with a season ticket thinks this is a big deal.

If there are any hold ups tomorrow, it’s far more likely to be because the club haven’t advertised not putting the cards in the reader and just tapping on top.
A contract is implied and express terms.

If a something occurs over a period of time then it is implied into the contract, for example you go swimming and the pool closes at 10pm then without warning or notice it closes at 8pm, it is implied that the terms of the gym membership has changed.

I have done, but they seem to be under the illusion that GRFZ is rife for “ticket fraud”. They seem to ignore the fact that I could have previously given my physical child’s ticket to an adult in the past anyway, and it would have been the same scenario. And I don’t even know anyone who does that (although I can imagine a small minority do).

So those of us GRFZ now aren’t allowed to transfer tickets of our own free will. Absolutely beyond the pale that someone in the club comes up with this stuff and no one can see how stupid it is. I think they are making out that I can still email them in advance to get a ticket transfer, which then means someone having to go to the ticket office and pick it up, but having requested that for this fixture (I am in Devon and my 75 year old Dad should be going tomorrow on my adult ticket) I am yet to receive anything, literally hours before kick off.

What's this - I've moved into the GRFZ this season but this is news to me?

Have you tried to “forward” your ticket to someone? If you’re going tomorrow, I imagine you haven’t tried yet.
Atypical I am going to be issuing a small claims court case against the club over this.

I certainly would not have bought season tickets if this digital ticketing crap was brought to my attention when I bought the ticket.

To announce it a week before the season starts is appalling.

The court fee is about £75 the same price as a mobile smart phone to get into the ground. Approach the club and ask for a refund on your season ticket or a plastic season card. If neither is offered email them tomorrow email them and advise them you are taking them to the small claims court.

If you lose you lose the £75. If you win you get a refund on the season ticket.

Yes, I will probably consider some kind of formal action if I cannot give my ticket to someone of my own free will. It’s just absolutely pathetic nonsense.

Others on here have said the forward option isn't yet working so the club will print you a paper ticket if you want to let someone else go on your behalf.

  • Unbalanced rights Contract terms that give the trader certain rights that you, as a consumer, don't also enjoy can be considered unfair.
  • For example, mfc changing the entry conditions 8 days 8 before the service being provided is rolled out and suggesting you buy additional technology at £35 not advertised when you entered into the contact. Added to the fact that emails are taking ten days to respond to and you can’t get through on the phone. This is unbalanced.
  • Changing goods or services A trader can't have a term that allows them to change significantly what you are buying without giving you the chance to withdraw from the contract. 8 days before the start of season 8. How long has the club knew that this was going to implemented? The service provided has changed.

Did they say why? Is this in the T&Cs?
It won’t be in T’s and C’s. But there’s nothing about digital in there anyway.

The reason given is apparently because the “forward”’option is too open to abuse with adults/children etc. No idea how it’s worse than what we had before though with physical cards.

If this is about fraud when you go through a turnstile a green light flashes when it is an adult and a yellow light if it is a concession. Get the concessions checked by the stewards.

Train operators manage to do this at busy train station and every turnstile has staff on them.

27 years we have at the riverside without any problems.
