Digital season card passes at the riverside stadium

The club are pleased to announce the phased introduction of digital ticketing for the 2023/24 season, after consultation with Middlesbrough Supporters Forum.

Digital ticketing uses NFC (Near Field Communication) which is a short-range wireless technology, as used for contactless payments. It's secure, fast and easy to use.

Supporters who require a new Season Card for 2023/24 – including seat moves, price category changes, and new applicants – will be the first people required to download their Season Card onto their mobile device. These supporters will be contacted via email and/or post ahead of the new season with full information on how to get set up.

Digital ticketing will be phased in, in stages, for existing Season Card holders over the course of 2023/24, and the club will keep fans fully informed in advance of changes to their requirements.

Please do not get in touch with the Ticket Office until/unless you have been contacted by the club regarding digital ticketing.

Digital ticketing will ultimately replace all physical Season Cards, with plans to push match tickets to digital ticketing in the future
. Supporters should continue to use their existing Season Card until informed otherwise.

A spokesman said: “NFC and mobile ticketing is something we’ve been keen to introduce for a while, and we’re delighted to be in a position to move in this direction.

“A phased roll-out means we can allocate resources more efficiently and provide additional assistance to supporters using the technology. Each area to be rolled out will be contacted as the season goes on and will receive full information on how to use NFC.

“This is a real positive step in that it will make it easier for supporters when it comes to purchasing tickets and for Season Card holders to be able to access their own pass via their chosen device.”

I have searched all of the minutes for the Middlesbrough supports forum and I can’t find where the supporters forum were consulted about this before it was implemented.

Who did the consultation take place with and when and what was discussed?

I know that the minutes or the meeting from Monday are to be circulated soon.

Since Monday’s is the first meeting since any alleged consultation could possibly have taken place it would be futile to search the minutes of earlier meetings.

However the minutes of that latest meeting should include either a report back confirming the consultation or a refutation that it took place. It will be interesting to see what they say.

Question who and when did mfc consult with from the supporters forum? Clearly it was on the table last season and it would have been minuted. I can’t find anything in the previous minutes to suggest it was discussed.

Don't really see that there is much point to this other than to cause an argument.
Rob, I think this question needs to be answered.

It is not causing an argument, people are rightly questioning if the panel who make up the forum are independent and impartial and are not conflicted by going against the club.

People want to know when the digital ticketing was consulted, likewise with the half season tickets.

I am pretty sure people from the club read this forum and take take several weeks for minutes to be released is not on.

It doesn’t need to be consulted by anyone, its decent if it is consulted but it certainly doesn’t have to be! The fans of this club think cos they pay for a season ticket have a say on how all aspects of the club are run. We are are customer paying to watch 90mins of football. Don’t like it, don’t go!

I think you’re missing the point. If the club is saying they are and have been consulting the fans on these things, we need to know whether it’s just for PR or if our opinions are actually valued and taken into account. I understand the unwillingness to name individuals as we don’t want those people getting blamed or abused for the club’s decisions but we should at least be told what was discussed and what the feedback was.

It was the club who made the statement

“after consultation with Middlesbrough Supporters Forum.”

Was there consultation or not
Question needs to be answered.
Easy way out from the club that.

Never known a club so out of touch with the fan base!

I had my SC renewed due to problems with it at the back end of last season, they obliged as soon as I asked with an email and sent it out to me and the young uns used it when he's been home. So it doesn't have to be on the phone only if you ask.

You’ve got that backwards. You can’t ask for a digital token. You can only have a digital token if you’re in one of the very limited group they’ve rolled it out to. If you’re in that group, THEN you can ask for a physical card instead.

There’s choice, but only one way. And some of us would prefer choice the other way too. Just as you prefer a card I think it’s unfit for my needs, and the sooner I can have the digital token the better. In fact, if I and the friend I sit with had known the piecemeal way it was being introduced I think we’d have swapped seats just to be in the early group.

Appreciate your reply but I million percent disagree. That’s not saying you are wrong, I just don’t agree!
