Club Shop - Complete Shambles!

For the 4th time since early September, I've just been to the club shop for a medium away shirt for my son - none in but due 15 December.
I asked if I could order one and the response was " try ringing the retail phone number, it's often busy but keep trying".
I said "well here I am in person, can I not order one now?".
The reply was " no sorry, there's that many people asking". I said "there's 3 customers in the shop, surely I can order today". No chance...
So I asked about the white 3rd shirt, " sorry, we won't be getting any more of those".
The shop is ran like a bad stall on Doggy market, a complete and utter joke.
The club says they only get £12.50 per season ticket per game, yet make a total horlicks of another valuable revenue stream - in this day and age with all sales data available, it really is a farce.

I agree. It's embarrassing for a Championship level football club.

I've got to disagree with you, a market stall wouldn't be run as bad as the club shop. ;)

Mad isn’t it! I would deceive myself as a pretty hardcore fan.. I’ve just given up with the club shop. After years and years of trying to sort my kids out with boro coats for school.. nee boro shirts for Christmas.

My mind is actually blown how you can’t order stuff that isn’t in the one physical store that exists! It’s pathetic. I’ve honestly had much better experiences with junior football clubs ordering kit from complete novices.

Went in before the last home game, not really expecting much but they managed to surpass my thinking on how bad it would be. There were no winter hats, it's December it's Baltic and the shop could not sell me a bobble hat, a scarf perhaps then? Well there were approximately three scabby looking cheap and manky looking efforts. Who is running this place?

I get that there are supply issues with replica kits but I can go on eBay and buy any number of red and white wooly hats and scarves. I mean winter! It happens every year FFS

Yep, my lad plays in the tjfa and his club have a great online platform...and their stock is much more up to date/relatable than the tat in the MFC store. Half of the entire display window has the away shirt advertised, yet they haven't had most sizes available for at least 2 months.
Dead loss of an outlet...

The state of the club shop can be summed up by what little is being sold from the pop up stall in one of the centres. Think it was the Hill Street. I don't know why they've bothered having a stall when what is being sold from it is so pitiful.

The only supply issue with the kits is we don't order enough. Check out any other club with errea and see if they have any issues with kit supply.

QPR for example below, all but a few large sizes in stock.

The old club shop in the very early 90s was excellent. It was literally packed to the gills with everything you could need, from classic red and white Boro badge bobble hats, proper football scarves, home and away shirts and training kit through to duvet covers, autograph books, badges, pennants and pens. If they didn’t have what you wanted, you left your and name with Diane - I think it was Diane? - behind the counter and she’d try and get it for you, and then actually ring you back. Can you imagine that.

These days the offering is absolute dogsh*t. I appreciate there may be club staff keeping an eye on threads like this and may find that offensive but the quality, choice and availability of merchandise is absolutely appalling and has been since about 2005.

I've just had a look at the online store - it's no better. Men's home shirts - they only seem to stock 4XL to 8XL so I suppose they know their target audience.

Diane sounds hot

As an aside, I've ordered one of my bairns a Boro duvet cover this year (wife not happy as doesn't really fit with her Pinterest inspired vision of their bedrooms). Nowhere to be seen yet and ordered over a week ago!

This being brought up time and time again, it's a joke what is being sold ( or isn't ) in the club shop. Managed to get my son an away shirt a few months ago, he has asked for shorts and socks for it to make a full set for Xmas. No Stock!

Oh and the one chance we have to question the club on this at the supporters forum - they didn't ask the question because people had to leave.
