Digital season card passes at the riverside stadium

I do keep saying this but I do believe the step from season tickets and turnstile operators to cards will have been the biggest leap to make. There will be lots more demo days I believe from now and through the season as the digital switch is phased in.
I get what you’re saying up to a point Rob, but one thing that season books and season cards had in common was that the club gave you something that worked on its own and all you had to do was not forget it (beyond me at times but hey ho).

This system relies on you having the kit, and being prepared to use it. The thing the club sends you doesn’t just work on its own. I have the kit, I don’t believe it’s all part of a grand plot by the shape shifting lizards and while I’m at the technophobe old fogey end of the spectrum I am hopeful I’ll manage to work it. And if I do there are significant pluses for me personally. But we aren’t all in that place.

Just received my new card through post, as I am now a concessionary (old fart)
Also told me I could get on phone.
Very straight forward all done now.

It also could add weight to the fact you can have a card instead of phone as now I have both, assuming the card is not now deactivated.

Emailed club last Friday requesting I opt out of this, reply back saying it can take up to ten days to reply back.

Second email send asking for a season ticket refund.

No refunds to either.

Why is the club not being more clear on this on social media.

Digital mafia going on, predict snake like queues to ticket office on Friday and Saturday.

I will issuing proceedings in the small claims court if it is not sorted before the season starts.

Dreadful idea. If it is not broke don’t fix.

1000 percent sure that this will be forced upon people.

Making it as difficult as possible to get in touch.

Saturday is going to be ticketing disaster. It will be similar to the Teesside Airshow.

Tipping a kick off delay and a apology from the club for shafting the fans.

There’s going to be chaos. I go with my son and I sort the season tickets. We’ve done some searching on the app I’m still on the card but his is digital because he’s gone from concession to full price. How many will turn up Saturday without realising this ?

I opened the dictionary on a random page and this came up....

hyperbole
/hʌɪˈpəːbəli/
noun
exaggerated statements or claims not meant to be taken literally.
"he vowed revenge with oaths and hyperboles"
Similar:

overstatement

At first I thought these posts of yours were serious but as time goes on and they get ever more ridiculous I can only conclude that you have to be on a massive wind up.

I doubt there will be any queues longer than usual at the ticket office, nor any delayed kick off, and I doubt you'll get a refund either (unless they ignore all the processes and do it as a one off goodwill gesture).

The only part of your post I agree with is that the club will eventually make everyone moving over to digital ticketing to be a term of entry, but it will be after a fair old lengthy transition period. It might take a couple of seasons to finally convince everyone to move across or where the club can no longer justify having the two systems of entry in operation as so few are still clinging to the traditional season card.

Not on wind up at all. Deadly serious.

The club can’t even even straight forward questions or emails.

I have had enough.

Litigation seems inevitable.

It clearly does, though it's only a few seconds added on.

That was with people specifically told what to do and being recorded for an instructional video too.

It's definitely going to be slower for people who aren't great with their phones but have still went digital.

I'll be fine with it, so it'll be just as quick for me, but I bet there'll be a few pile-ups this season.
Not sure if I’ve lost the plot, but I just don’t see how anyone could see that as being slower. I’m assuming you are including the time taken bring up the digital ticket on the phone? That takes less time than a lot of people faffing to get their physical ticket out of a wallet. Either way the reality is the majority of people would have either their physical ticket or phone ready before they actually get to the turnstile.

It will be minimal, but the main time saving will be the fact you don’t have to actually put the card in to the reader and wave it about a bit, you will just tap it.

I sent my opt out form on Saturday, chased it up Monday and then again today after waiting for 45 mins in the phone queue before being cut off.

They posted the new cards today. I dont think they would have replied though if I hadn't sent the second reminder today with a desperate tone.

Edit: That was a reply to someone, but I forgot to click reply, so I've edited it to make sense.

Despite the opt out form not being an online form and having to muck about trying to edit a pdf on my phone and then the instructions for where to send the form being incorrect I have successfully opted out and had my season cards posted. Happy days

Update….

Email received on Friday.

Dear redlips,

You will not be receiving a physical card, but rather a digital Season Card which will be kept within the wallet of your mobile device. It’s secure, fast and easy to use, powered by NFC (Near Field Communication) which is the same wireless technology used for contactless payment. The digital Season Card only needs to be downloaded once, with the information displayed on the digital Season Card automatically updated for each fixture.

Email requesting to opt out,

Reply it will take 14 days to respond

Email back, Friday, requesting a full refund

Reply today to redlips

Nothing will change you will still use your season card from last season as this will automatically renew as you haven’t had a change in seat or concession.

Reply back, concession has changed will my ticket work on Saturday. Also can you send your complaints policy as your communications are unclear and you have not addressed my issue in respect of a refund.

Rob, the communications are dreadful. Can you suggest to the club than for the first game all existing to use last years card and if you want to opt it for digital tickets you can.

The communications over this has been appalling(not for those who are happy with the digital arrangement).

It is a farce

I moved my seat as the lady next to me wanted an extra ticket for family. There was a seat behind so happy to oblige. Got back from holiday yesterday and no letter or new ticket received. Today a letter did arrive saying as a ‘seat mover’ I was going over to digital. Quickly downloaded the e ticket into my Apple wallet and all set to go for Saturday. They even sent me my free drinks voucher separate for the Millwall game as they are not looking to over complicate things by adding the free drink to the e ticket till the Huddersfield game. Keep train tickets, boarding passes, loyalty cards in my Apple wallet, even my bank and credit cards so don’t see any fuss with putting my season ticket in there as well. All very simple and fingers crossed works fine on Saturday UTB

100% this.

When the dust settles, it looks like we'll be left with a new system for those who want it and the old system for those who don't. If so, there's literally nothing for anyone to be annoyed about.

The blame for people being annoyed lies solely with the comms. They've been misleading, incomplete, exclusionary, divisive and patronising.

Well said clay the word I would use is that mfc have treated supported with disdain.
  1. the feeling that someone or something is unworthy of one's consideration or respect:
"her upper lip curled in disdain" · "an aristocratic disdain for manual labour"
    SIMILAR:
VERB
  1. consider to be unworthy of one's consideration:
"he disdained his patients as an inferior rabble"

Redlips I understand your frustration, a simple yes/no would have answered your question re Saturdays match. It doesn't have to be complicated.

I requested a new card for other half a few months ago. Her current one was nackered. All the plastic covering has come away so it’s just a blank card with no details on the front.

She was added to the list for a new card which would be issued in the post. Since then, no new card received, no invite for digital ticketing.

As we were under the impression we were getting a replacement I’ve discarded the old season card. Emailed them at the weekend and still no reply. Tried calling today. Sat in a queue and cut off after an hour (happened to me a number of times in the past too!).

All in all, very frustrating as will have to try the phone again tomorrow as doubt my E-Mail will be picked up in time.

Happy for us both to switch to digital if needs be but feels like our request has fell through the cracks.

You can’t get through on the phone, or you are cut off after waiting for about an hour, you can’t get a straight answer via email, on Twitter you have a guy with a red clip board mark motley when you ask a question other than you want a digital ticket he refers you to look at the frequently asked questions section or gives a 💩 answer like the club will work out different options on them.

Club have told me I need a digital card and then I don’t.

All of this is rolled about a week before the season. A week.

I honestly don’t want a season ticket anymore, after this. I would rather watch a few non league games and watch the game in the pub.

Nobody is bothered at all, apart from the un named toss pot that sanctioned a fortune on a digital ticketing strategy that a large portion of the fab base downy want.

I was in the lowest ever boro crowd at an Anglo Italian cup game in the middle of December.

Sod the ticket collectors, the kids, the pensioners, the disabled.

Pretty sure the corporate ticket holders will be exempt from this arrangement.

Who do you complain to? Age concern, the football association, the equality commission the efl.

Not felt this mad since missing out on Eindhoven ticket
