I wonder if we’re a bit “Brazil obsessed” here on Teesside. They’re crap now you know - Richarlison is their best player!

If he’d been capped by Slovakia or something no one would bat an eyelid.
 
I would still say being linked with a forward who’s been capped by Brazil at the age of 22 whilst we’re in the championship is exciting. I know nothing about him but reading up on him he is highly rated. Be interesting to see if it progresses further or if is indeed just a link

He left Zenit when uefa said that players signed to Russian teams could suspend their contract. He went to Corinths on loan initially, but now has gone for free. I suspect that zenit couldn’t pay money to the club they bought him from due to international sanctions, thus were in breach of the purchase and therefore the transfer and playing contract is now annulled?

I would think that if he signed with Corinthians for free, he will have had some kind of release clause for a European side. Would be a massive statement to get a player like that.

I do think it more likely Gibsons Missus or daughter was misheard when talking about their coming holiday to Greece by a hard of hearing hack about going to Corinthia and would need to get a striking Brazilian beforehand and it has just spiralled from there.

1 cap (as sub) in a friendly counts, of course, but people have talked about it as if it means we have no chance of signing him. I'm just not sure that's quite the prohibitive factor it once was.
