I believe Brazil league has never had a problem being physical. I mean half those lads grew up in desperate poverty and have a real perspective on how you have to fight for everything in life. We like to think of them all as dicky dancers and free spirits, but there are plenty of meatheads that'll break you in half if you try and dribble past them.

Fernandinho, Fabinho, Casemiro, Thiago Silva, Allison, Marquinhos, Felipe Luis, Maicon, David Luiz… most of the best Brazilian players of this generation have been rugged defenders.

There’s not many past Neymar and Vini Jnr that fit the free spirit stereotype anymore.
