Yuri Alberto

Seems to be pricey, if true, surely means it’s to be funded by Akpom sale?
Depends on what release clause he agreed when signing with Corinths, remember he signed for free under unusual circumstances. I'd suspect he agreed something like a 5-8m release agreement. So that Corinths get something from nothing, and his obvious european ambitions were not thwarted. His time at Corinths was by necessity not by plan.

Be nice to have a Brazilian international though wouldn’t it mate!
I don't really value it like I would have done in the 90s.

Our former full-back Fabio was a Brazil international, I bet hardly anyone in Brazil knows who he is now though. Traditionally, they've always picked a totally random bunch of home-grown players in some friendlies. I'm not reading too much into his 1 cap.

In fact I'll stick my neck out now and say I think we're getting him! No smoke without fire etc.....:)

You missed Ricard, Alves, 2 x Fabio and Fabio Rochemback

Moreno though - ok wasn't he? Never pulled up trees mind.
Ricard's Colombian.

Can't imagine there's anything in this if the price being talked about is that high, don't think there's much chance of us paying that much for anyone at this point without being in the Premier League first.

That price isn't being talked about, it's just the value listed on Transfermrkt which is notoriously bad for this and doesn't take into account any contract factors such as release clauses.

Just to give further context, he played 5 minutes in a friendly for Brazil (who are fairly crap now in all honesty) in a match they lost against Morocco a few months ago.

What odds can I get on him signing? I'm having them.

Get him signed now! :ROFLMAO:

"Center forward has season well below expectations

Yuri Alberto can leave Corinthians in this transfer window. The striker has been one of the names most criticized by Fiel in this troubled moment for the team.

Hired at a price of gold from Russia's Zenit, the striker is experiencing a completely different moment in 2023. So far, he has only scored 6 goals and provided 5 assists in the 32 games in which he has played.

However, now, Yuri may leave the team before he even manages to turn around.
Yuri Alberto opens conversations with the English club and may leave Corinthians in this window

That's because, according to the Torcedores portal, Yuri Alberto is in talks with Middlesbrough, which is currently playing in England's second division."

I Knew I new his name , looked back in emails and found it , I Reccomended Yuri Alberto to Boro 3 years ago this week ! On a free transfer then .
Better late than never ? 😃
I think he was linked with us a while back.. Huddersfield too strangely enough.

Alves had a few caps didn't he?
The 'Goal Machine' didn't turn really function for us.
Brazil are a bit weird - it seems they blood a lot of players in their friendlies - many fixtures played in Europe well away from their manical support.
A word in an ear from an agent my just get someone a game

Wikipedia for Afonso:

International career

On 17 May 2007, Alves received his first call-up for the Brazil national team for friendlies against England and Turkey.[18] On 1 June, in the game against England, Alves was brought on to replace Kaká after 71 minutes of play and very nearly scored after a Wes Brown slip. He was also part of the Brazilian squad which won the 2007 Copa América in Venezuela. Alves scored his first international goal on 12 September 2007 against Mexico in a 3–1 win

In the January transfer window of the 2007–08 season he moved to Premier League side Middlesbrough on 31 January 2008. Alves' transfer fee was said to have been €12 million, on a four and a half year contract

Again opinions but Alves scored some exceptional goals for the Boro that where not just luck, he was not as bad as some would suggest, it just didnt work out in the manner where he become a legend but he was definately a good player!
Bit lightweight, bit of a one trick pony, but his goals per minutes wasn't awful in a pretty poor side. Seemed to lose his way when Rochemback left. Got 13 goals in 37 starts, not exactly superstar stuff but hardly terrible

He was also Bolivian
He looked like the absolute god of all football in the last game of the season in Robbos first promotion season at Tranmere. I'd never seen a player caress a football like that in English football previously. We just didn't have players like that back then or the players to compliment them. He'd be bog standard top half of championship type player now. The game has changed so much.
