Lycra is much more comfortable, and by god that additional comfort is welcome, especially when riding 30 miles plus.

What looks do you get? I don't even look at oncoming cars (or the drivers at least), and it's practically impossible to look at the driver of an overtaking car?

I wouldn't even go for a walk in jeans, never mind ride a bike or do any other sport. I hate wearing them on a night out even, but they can look smart, and trousers are a bit OTT.
