I regularly see a sign saying welcome to North Yorkshire as I drive away from Middlesbrough. Someone better tell whoever put it there to move it back a few miles

You seem a decent bloke, never had you down as a plastic Mackem! We're probably all Northumbrian FWIW, my birth certificate says County Durham, but I've always considered myself a Teessider.

It helps to remind us all who is in denial, us Yorkshiremen love a chuckle at themHow many threads have we had on this over the years?
I think it's because some associate Leeds with Yorkshire. Leeds isn't in Yorkshire it's in Obnoxioushire.I really don’t get why anyone would not want to be part of North Yorkshire. It’s a fantastic neck of the woods.
Well the first instructions worked well. Poor, needy Yorkshire folk. "Please say you're ours, YOU HAVE TO!!!!"No reasoning or debate as its been done many a time, just a simple yes or no to the question
Do you consider yourself Yorkshire?
NO NO AND THRICE NO
People from Whitby were also born 40 odd miles from York. It doesn’t mean they aren’t from YorkshireI don't care where it starts and ends. I was born 4 miles from the banks of the Tees and over 40 miles from York. I'm a Teessider.

Absolutely, this.If people want to argue about boundary reorganisations, then why not argue that we should be in Northumbria. I guess a lot of people think the world was better when they were kids (selective memory in most cases)
Not just kids Harry, Yorkshire kidsAbsolutely, this.
Yes it has - it was diverted when the wanted to get rid of the twists and turns on approach to Stockton - so Yorkshire pinched bits of Durhamthe rivers the boundary Coops.
Its not moved.

Yeah your first sentence said you don’t care where it starts and ends. Not sure what the relevance on mileage from York is? It’s 40 miles from lots of places that are in Yorkshire.Did you not read the first sentence I wrote?
At least once a yearI was born in South Shields and have lived North of the Tees entirely, so definitely no association with Yorkshire.
Has this topic been debated before on FMTTM?
