There's a lot of people in denial here - as per my earlier post, if you were born south of the Tees, you're a Yorkshireman whether you like it or not (or indeed a Yorkshirewoman)

It will have been put up by North Yorkshire County Council so, again, it's an administrative thing. You'll note that it doesn't say Welcome to Yorkshire, because you were already there when you reached the sign.
 
I was born in parkside hospital which is in Middlesbrough North Yorkshire.
I simply don’t get how that can be disputed?

I really don’t get why anyone would not want to be part of North Yorkshire. It’s a fantastic neck of the woods.

If people want to argue about boundary reorganisations, then why not argue that we should be in Northumbria. I guess a lot of people think the world was better when they were kids (selective memory in most cases)

fukk Yorkshire. Can’t stand all that rural rubbish, sheep worrying, homemade jam, farmers markets, Land Rover defenders, flat cap, waffles and cream and wellies.
I am from the land of smog and heavy industry. Spent enough time in Yorkshire to know I am not from Yorkshire, no affinity with it at all.
 
Simple really we are all Teessider's (at least the ones born near the Tees), the ones born south of the river are Yorkshire Teessider's the ones born north of the river are Durham Teessider's. The uniting thing is we are all Boro.
