Will Smith v Chris Rock

In watching that replay did it look like will was actually laughing at the joke? I’m assuming as the camera panned away his wife maybe said something hence the slap.

Not great making personal jokes but you invite a comedian on stage what do you expect ? Always a risk

Also disagree. Im not sure which films you would have categorised as nominees but if it goes down to box office success then the bloody Marvel franchise films would walk off with them all and how bad would that have been ?
Agree. The film industry is currently saturated with action film brain dead computer generated nonsense for the masses. Takings at the box office are certainly not the barometer of how good a film is.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the marvel stuff most of it is actually very very good.
Formulaic, money spinning film making and technically brilliant but I can’t remember one from the other. The musical scores are great though. Thanks to Hans Zimmer who won the Oscar overnight for Dune.

Yeah he's initially laughing, but then turns around and she isn't.

She clearly yanked his chain.

As if people are now condoning Smith's actions, I guess these people must also feel that any member of the audience can come on stage and assault a comedian if they make fun of them or their loved ones.

Should have been kicked out and arrested, like anyone else would have been if they had assaulted someone at a work event.

Will Smith came with a lot more energy for the bloke making a joke about his wife than than the one who was sleeping with her. He’s soft as *****.

I don't think either are in the right. I would have thought it was amusing if she had shaved it for a role. Yet it's a medical condition so not something that you should make a joke about.

Then again the reaction was hardly setting an example etc. I know are saying he's 'defending his wife's honour' and all that guff. Don't do it live on stage. Have it out afterwards.

It's the 'highlight' of the Oscars. Its not something that remotely interests me. It costs millions to stage and all those grotesque 20-30k 'goody bags' they get. Just a lavish free p*ss up. I'm sure the money could be better spent in the entertainment industry.

I don't think it was staged. Yet if it was then its got people like me commenting on an Oscar thread. So no doubt many others on twitter. I guess it's 'achieved' raising interest if fake.

I have seen some of them admittedly not all. I guess the Oscar’s is becoming increasingly awarding to films most people won’t bother watching .
eh? It's always had some semi arty films. It's been a long long time since it was just full of the most popular movies, and rightly so. Most popular movies these days are utter trash

Think he's embarrassed himself there. Big geezer, action film star, spends all day in the gym, has a run up, and barely makes a squeaky 5ft comedian flinch.

Obviously more to the point you shouldn't be flouncing up on stage to punch comedians over telling a joke. Idiotic behaviour. I'm just saying if you are going to do it, worth doing properly.

Arguably the Oscars have never been about the most popular films. Jaws, Star Wars and Close Encounters were never nominated In the 70s for example.

I think I certainly would have felt like doing what he did if it was a case of defending my wife.
However, if I’d hit someone like that, my wife would be disgusted with me, she’d say I had lost control, behaved like an animal and probably wouldn’t be at all impressed.
yup, I think that's the post. He embarrassed himself and his wife by reacting like he did
