Wilder promising big overhaul - some development on Monday

Some posters really want us to start again completely.

It’s all well and good saying stuff like sell Fry/McNair/Jones if we get a good offer, what happens if after that opposition clubs all of a sudden start demanding 2/3x the original fee for one of our targets, or said targets move somewhere else and we are stuck with players way down our list.

We should be looking to bring players in first if we can and then look at cashing in if they are no longer required.

I think Wilder tends to run his mouth off when he's disappointed. I doubt we'll hear anything much on Monday though the club's PR team is probably sweating on trying to put together something that looks meaningful.

I guess we'll see a retained list and we'll probably find that Howson is the only one of the players with expiring contracts that we're offering a new contract to. I can also imagine that we might officially transfer list all our players who are out on loan plus some of the U23s like Stephen Walker.

We won't hear anything about Spence or any of our other registered players until June.
They might have a pre-contract agreement with someone to announce.

As for the rest. Some fans get obsessed with selling everyone and starting over. Others can't bear the idea of selling anyone. I suspect that Wilder is a lot more pragmatic than that. There's a limit to the amount of churn a squad can deal with. Clearly we need to massively improve the strikers and keeper but everyone knows that.

Sign strikers and a goalkeeper, the core of the rest of the core starting 11 is fine.

We may have to sell Tavernier if he only has a year left on his contract, but we shouldn't be selling the likes of Jones and Fry unless our finances absolutely demand it.

Yep.

If we had two good strikers and a good goalkeeper this season, we would have been 3rd or 4th easily I think

I think the issue with Fry is i am not sure he’s really excelled this season to much, and if there is interest there could be a chance to get a decent fee and replace him with someone a bit stronger and invest other areas of the squad. There is a hell of a lot of work to do.

I would be very underwhelmed too but as you say he’s left footed and he would be an ‘attitude over ability’ signing. But no, not for me.
Gibson's on the bench for Norwich today and they're still getting tonked 4 nil at home 🤣

You know I'd be happy with Gibson back. Sign Bamba back on for another year as cover/cup runs and coach. He could teach Ben a few things in the dark arts of defending.

On another note, Wilder likes to play a pressing game right? Well we definitely need more youth signings, who will run through brick walls for the team. The likes of Peltier, Taylor for example simply don't have the legs to do that anymore.

I have watched Gibson a lot this season and i know it’s a division above but some of his defending has been a joke. When he was at Boro he looked ‘solid’ if not spectacular but he doesn’t seem to have that any more and I’m not sure what else he would bring to the table apart from having a left foot and being passionate about the club. Not sure it’s quite enough to sign him in my opinion. Agree with the second part of the post, definetly need some youthful signings and players who can press and run

What makes you think that anything said here means that work isn’t needed to recruit replacements? Nobody thinks that and the two will go hand in hand surely? Indeed, CW has said that the process of bringing in new players is already underway
