Wilder has a blind spot with Connolly

Wilder has been brilliant since he arrived. It’s undeniable. It’s also undeniable that today there were any number of players well below par and deserve criticism. Connolly though put in a carbon copy performance of all of the others he has put in. That’s as well as he can do, and he’s dreadful. Offers precisely nothing.

I got absolutely slated for criticism of him when he ‘scored’ against Birmingham. I’ve seen absolutely nothing from him to suggest he should be in the squad, let alone the first XI. The defence is that he works hard, but that should be a given for every player provided the wages they’re on. He’s useless.

His touch and hold up play isnt bad at all but in the box he's absolutely hopeless he can't get on the end of chances so he's not worth playing

Agreed, play watmore and balogun for rest of season

He should have had about four or five today but just couldn't finish. I suppose you could argue that he did well to get in those positions, but I think that Watmore, Coburn or Sporar would have been in those positions and would have put them away.

I think he does bring something to the side with his pressing game and he gets in the right positions. But if you don't score goals, you can't win, and he's one of the main reasons we aren't scoring goals.

Spot on.

He is dreadful.

We were poor just about everywhere today so I don’t think you can lay the blame at anyone player although Lumps should have saved the goal. As far as the performance by Connolly is concerned I think we’ve seen enough of him to know he’s definitely not a Premier league player. The offside goal should never have happened today as he (Connolly) never measured his run. He’s just a very underwhelming player but I feel he probably not got the Brighton situation out of his head.

He’s not even that good

I will defend him slightly and say that to an extent we're still not playing to his strengths enough. At one point today I felt Fry should have played a ball over the top for him as he'd made a good run on the shoulder but I don't think Fry spotted it.

Crooks also should have played him in during the 1st half but played a poor pass which was intercepted.

At the same time though he's very frustrating. His touch always seems to be so poor when he receives the ball in the box and he gets knocked off the ball far too easily. He keeps going to ground because he knows he can't hold the ball up.

I think you are making excuses for him.

As Coburn and Watmore waited to come on it could have been either of the forwards coming off. Both were poor along with everyone else.

I understand Adi sentiment though. Connolly puts in the same performance each game. It looks like he could be a good player but then nothing really happens with him.
