Wilder has a blind spot with Connolly

Didn’t think he was that bad personally, hard to criticise the strikers when they had nothing at all to work with

Still think him and Balogun are our best partnership

Just giving an honest assessment of his performance. He was poor but we need to be playing the ball through to him when he's making those runs. He said in his first presser here that it's how he likes to play.

I felt there was a real reluctance to play balls through the middle in general today. We kept playing it out wide but then Tav would just want to cut back inside onto his left so we ended up going nowhere.

Agree 1000%.
But if a mystery this because wilder appears a very sane chap and doesn’t suffer fools. If Connolly figures from the start again then it’s wilder I’m starting to question; not Connolly (because the whole town know this lad needs to feck off back to south coast !!!!!!)
 
We need 3 strikers for next season. For me, Cameron Archer we should try and get on loan. Peterborough getting relegated will mean they will look to sell Jonson Whatshisname!
 
Worth remembering Watmore and Coburn missed sitters on Wednesday night. Neither have really justified starting a game all season
 
Wilder is certainly defensive and a little prickly where Connolly and Balogun are concerned. Was asked on Tees about breaking teams down any he immediately got tetchy saying it’s not all just the strikers, the service is poor (which I think what Tees were also saying!). He has criticised Sporar and Watmore but won’t say a word about the other two.
 
Is there a mandatory play clause involved

For balogun I’d say yes absolutely as this its what the top prem sides do.

Connolly and Brighton I’m not sure I’d be surprised but who knows.
 
Balogun was far better today. It was incredible that Connolly stayed on.
He was desperate today, absolutely desperate.
The team were awful. Only Dijksteel deserves credit.
Connolly has not scored a clean goal for us since he came here. He has a double deflected goal and an own goal that is still inexplicably credited to him.
On weds we didn’t get what we deserved. Today we did.
Lumley howler, awful outfield performance.

Runs about and that’s enough for some ra ra’s on here. Won’t get in double figures in a season as long as I have a hole in my ar$e. 1 in 8 striker at best, needed the opposition to help get the ball in the net for him for both of his “goals”

A few weeks ago I said you can see why Brighton let him go as he is a bang average footballer and not a striker.

The thing with Connolly is he just never looks like scoring or creating. It’s pretty shocking how little he contributes in his main role (striker). If Wilder wants someone who presses and covers a lot of ground, there are better options. Hernandez for one.

I think the Jan recruitment has disrupted the team. Sporar knows his time is up at the end of the season. We all know it. He must already be looking at other options. I still think he offers more than Connolly but the love has gone from supporters and probably from him too.
 
His all round play first half was better than baloguns. Watmore and sporar did jack against Fulham and the same from watmore off the bench today.

Why he's being singled out when the others were definitely not better I don't know. Watmore started away at Barnsley, toothless. Watmore started with sporar against Fulham toothless.

Balogun and Connolly started today, toothless.


It's an overall problem.

Sporar had a decent shot saved against Fulham, Watmore got into a good position and really should have scored at the end. Connolly never looked like scoring today - the offside was a mile off. I personally thought Sporar and Watmore did better on Wed than Connolly and Balogun today.
