Who was the most disappointing signing we’ve had

After his first few performances I was hopeful Braithwaite would go on to become a club legend, and that we had gotten ourselves a bargain.

Although he was a mercenary, I also still feel we misused him to an extent. He could have been brilliant for us in the Championship.

The ending was dissapointing only because his football was some of the most exciting I have seen in a Boro shirt in the Boro in the 60+ years that I have supporting Boro.The others mentioned never played up to their reputatios (price tags)

His refusal to come back from rio was a major disappointment. Then you look at his career post boro. He was a criminal waste of talent. Probably the most talented player I have ever seen.

Disappointment comes for many reasons.
 
Davenport, Andy Payton, Branco, Gascoigne - disappointed that we signed him rather than disappointed how he performed, every Monk signing, Assombalonga - although I personally believe he could have done much better if we'd played to his strengths.

Edit: and almost all of Strachans signings
 
Aiden Flint was a massive disappointment. 10 goals for Bristol City the season before. Thought he was going to be vital to that Pulis side but he was woeful. 5-10 goals from him that season would have probably got us into the playoffs that season

robbed a career that lad. could have had my nana in goal at barca when the team was keeping 80% of the ball in most games
 
Gazza probably but the mitigation is we were daft to not realise his alcohol problems were the only reason he was getting bumped from Rangers, so we shouldn't have expected much.

Branco world cup winner, absolute dog dirt for us, looked like someone picked out of the crowd and given a pair of boots, he was that unfit.

Attitude one, Ziege. Disappointed that he forced a move after saving his career

Controversial one, Emerson, watched him against Inter Milan and thought we had signed potentially the best midfielder in the world. By the time he stropped around the Elland Road field in a huff as we got relegated I was about as disappointed as I have ever been in a player not applying himself
