Where has the money gone Steve?

I don't think all of those are mistakes, especially not the most expensive ones, Rhodes, Assombalonga and Braithwaite anyway.
Britt was clearly a failure, cost us circa 23m all in for a player who left for free, harmed our FFP for 6 seasons and had a terrible terrible record against any half decent team. Clearly spooked Gibson into not spending big money on players anymore.

How about a new model - forget about incoming transfers and use the players from our academy. We will find our level with a home grown team, save millions, wipe out debt and still have a team to support?

Probably why we haven’t followed the “Jusy pay the money “ advice for the likes of larsen now whilst a championship club

I don't think we got value, but we were a relegated prem team, who clearly got taken advantage of. He had a couple of years at Forrest scoring at a goal every 160 and then 130 mins, not bad for a team right near the bottom.

I think the problem was more we never created anything for him against the good teams, or lumped the ball up to him, when he was largely on his own, he's 5'11", that's never going to work. I don't really blame that on Britt. He still scored against the other teams when nobody else up front was. It's our fault he left for free, if he wasn't going to sign a contract and we saw him going downhill (which he did), then we should have cashed in. Extremely naive in the purchase, in the way we played to him and the way he went, all the clubs fault. Can't imagine he relished the thought of 5 managers in 3/4 years either?

Everyone knew he was a simple player you just stick in the box and he'll sniff out goals, he couldn't do much else but he could do that. Who has done it since or any of the time he was here?

Come on we created loads for him, missed loads of sitters, he also created nothing for himself. He was a poor player, worse than Leroy Lita
Most strikers miss loads of sitters, over 4 years, in the championship. Suppose you have to be in the right place/ right time to get those chances, rather than nowhere near where the ball ends up, like a lot of our other strikers have done.

I don't think the sitters he missed were anywhere near the same level as what Watmore has missed for example. I know Watmore cost nowt, but he's still been playing a hell of a lot of minutes.

Tavernier pays for our Transfer business.. we have a stonger squad than last season.

Spence & Others go some way to cover ongoing costs and pay off debts. FFP doesn’t just mean spend every season. We have to recoup some costs.

It’s a tight league!
It's not a stronger the midfield is considerably weaker

Tavernier - started as a winger
Mowett will play more games in midfield this season than Tavernier did last season.
(Tavernier has also paid for our entire window)

Payero - didn’t make the cut replaced mid season by McGree.

Siliki - didn’t make the cut replaced by Boyd-Munce

Crooks - Still here
Howson - Still here

Then we have academy players who are all a year stronger Gibson, Conteh, Hackney etc

I'm happy for the club to spend the right money on the right players if and when they are available rather than panicking, spunking the lot and adding to that list of expensive flops. Investment hasn't been the problem, recruitment has and still is. We've been putting in almost 10mil offers for players this window and people are calling the chairman. Madness.

I doubt we have offered 10 million for anyone

Wipe out debt?

The debt is probably about £80 million, assuming there are no more transfers this year. That ignores about the same amount written off over the last 20 years.

Outside of the Prem League no team is going to be able to repay that sort of money.

The issue MFC faces is that nobody chooses Boro over any other team now. It's not a desirable place to play. If Boro want to sign a player the club has to pay over the odds in transfer fees, wages and (indirectly) agent fees.

I will make this simple

Mowatt shíte
McGree shíte
Boydmunce shíte

Don't think we offered big bucks to anyone ......think the books had to be balanced a bit for ffp , imagine if we got caught out for FFP , media would have a field day , we get on with what we have , which showns signs of a decent side though slightly erratic at the back sadly, a mf "clogger" may have helped ala dean glover
