Where has the money gone Steve?

Close to 30 million with the Spence/Tav sales plus plenty more cleared in wages and we have seen a fraction reinvested when the squad is clearly lacking in so many areas. Are we happy to consolidate in the championship every year and sell our best players without replacing them?

Have you any idea how much debt this club has?
I’m not SG’s biggest fan but he has a huge balancing act between spending and keeping us afloat.
In fairness - he’s pumped a fair bit into the squad in the past on a punt.
Only AK delivered in recent years.
It ain’t easy

We did get even close to £30 mil for those two.

Even still, Gibson would be well within his rights to keep that money, a fraction of what he’s put into the club from his own pocket.

Maybe he’d rather not spend on the new gestede and pocket it for the next window

Boro would be a burning ember on a slag heap in some rotten dystopian wasteland if Gibbo wasn’t here.

Or so we’re told.

How dare you not praise him for his ownership?!?

Possibly the reason we have so much debt is because he has made so many mistakes over the years. Numerous poor managerial appointments where a huge overhaul is required almost every summer don’t exactly come cheap. Just how many players have we made a profit on over the last few years?

You just need to look at our top signings recently to see why the club is apparently skint

Assombalonga 15 million
Rhodes 10 million
Braithwaite 10 million
Flint 7 million
Saville 7 million
Fletcher 7 million
Gestede 7 million
Payero 6 million

Around 70 million worth of transfer fees on 8 players alone plus huge wages that we would be lucky if we got back 15/20 million on them. When you add in poor managerial appointments for almost every manager over the last 15 years you soon realise it’s not a sustainable way to run a club

If that’s the case surely he should sell the club then? No owner should be taking money out of a club

It would be fairer to view those signings against what was recouped, this massively highlights our issues with signing strikers as britt, fletcher and Rudy all went on frees, saville and payero also must be massive losses

Yes that’s my point we must have lost at least 50 million on those signings plus millions more in wages. Probably another 10-15 million in wages for Britt, Gestede and Fletcher alone

Of all the things to criticise Gibson for a lack of financial investment it's the singularly most ludicrous.

The self-entitlement on here is frankly embarrassing; we've signed TEN players this summer and made sizable bids for several more, including today.

It's easy to throw money at xfers, not so easy to do it within a disciplined and sustainable way. Yes we're still short in a few areas, but Boro are not the only club in that position.

Superb by backing by gibson but you have to question the transfer fees of all them players from a business sense, sell on value etc horrendous, and we continue as a club to purchase projects which may well turn out to be gems but it doesnt feel like the club, manager and fans are aligned on there ambitions?

Is this transfer business, or a money laundering system being exposed? Because these were not tangible assets for any real footballing entity...
