Unreal thatMy first ever match, and in a bizarre coincidence my future father in law ran an advert in this programme for his business (the only time he remembers doing so).

I have the Pears game on video, camcorded the whole gameI'm sure Beardsley played in Pears' testimonial game as I can picture him in the green striped Dickens awayshirt we had during that season.
I also seem to remember Kevin Keegan playing in the Gary Hamilton game (which as previously mentioned was for the benefit of the poor girl from South Bank? who lost her legs in a car accident).
Yep they had one May 1983Pearsy went to Liverpool after his testimonial. Was reserve keeper for them after their back up was injured in an ironing accident.
I think the club also had a testimonial for wild Mannion and George Hardwick in the 1980s, though I may be talking crap.
Stewart Downing Testimonial should happen imo
It could very well go to a charitable cause. I think he got a raw deal with a lot of things that went on at the club. The chance to further his career by moving to Spurs.. turned down to stay here and fight relegation. Sold off to pay our debts (after signing an extension to his contract to allow us to do that) Brought back at the peak of his career to get the club promoted, denied another move after not being wanted by Karanka. Wrote off a clause in his contract to help the team out on the basis he could be involved in the coaching setup..I don't think Stewy needs the cash Newy.
Some great memories as ever Erimus. Remember going to that with my old fella....good turnout irc. Also at a few others mentioned including the Celtic invasion and last visit to Ayresome for Pearsy's and him scoring a penalty!
