Tory leadership candidates

4 out of the 6 are women - interesting

Hunt - bottom - how the mighty have fallen.
Were not 5 of the 6 candidates for Labour leader female? And they still voted for the only man. It pains me that the party showing greatest diversity of gender and race are the Tories. Why is this and does it count against Labour?

I get a slightly unhinged vibe from her

You should. She’s a big champion of Charter Cities. Worked in the US. on both the Bush jnr campaigns.
Said to have moved in Mercer, Koch brothers circle. Both responsible for the money behind Trump election and possibly, Brexit.
Truss is an idiot…but Mrs Mordor is something else.

Interesting, the Koch brothers are nasty pieces of work by all accounts.

Best option would probably be Truss. Has promised a few things which should benefit some people like reversing the NI rise but she's also horrendously incompetent so should make the next GE a non-contest. Especially with Dorries and Mogg in key positions. Sunak would be the worst. He won't change anything because we're already operating within his budget and he's happy with how things are going. Some how might be able to convince enough voters that he's on their side despite being a tax-dodging billionaire who is screwing everyone.

Of those left Tugendhat is by far the best option to be Prime Minister, cut from the Rory Stewart mould, a fierce and persistent critic of Johnson, who has made no secret of his personal and professional disdain for the outgoing PM, quietly competent, is usually on the right side of controversial issues, was surprised that Hunt didn't go on to endorse him as predicted after his demotion from the Leadership race yesterday, if he gets to the last two he gets down to the last two against Sunak or Truss I think their association with Johnson would see him win as the Party looks to air the stench of his Premiership.

Truss, looks out of her depth and lacks presence and gravitas and will be viewed as the continuation candidate, which I think is a kiss of death given what has gone on over the last 3 years, Sunak, is seen as a hypocrite and the Kingslayer, some will never forgive him for his part in Johnson's downfall, his position on the economy is a difficult circle to square when he's the main architect of where we currently are, Mordaunt thinks she's Thatcher incarnate, and has the benefit of being ex ERG and is seen as a distant enough from Johnson to not be tarnished, however she's a known liar, very right wing and unpopular with the One Nation faction of the Party, I thought Badenoch would have been voted out before Javid and Hunt, obviously Gove's backing has given credibility to her campaign that has made a difference, controversial views on race, press freedom and sexuality might prove contentious if she gets to the debate stage, she may fall between the cracks left by other higher profile candidates or she could be seen as a compromise candidate buoyed by the flotsam and jetsam of the other contenders, finally Braverman is just awful and a sign of how low the standard of British politics and politicians must be that she's even considered for the most important job in the country, duplicitous, insincere, dishonest, an echo box of the very worst primitive and regressive voices in British society, the idea that she could be seen as the person to pick up the mess of 3 years of Johnson's venality, misrule and incompetence is beyond staggering, the words empty vessel and increased volume spring to mind, she struggles with basics and produces vile vernacular that show her antipathy and distaste for those most in need of societal help, after the contumacy of Johnson, the incognizance of Braverman is the last thing we need.

Truss, looks out of her depth and lacks presence and gravitas….

In the time frame leading to the next election, possibly two years, she might serve a purpose.
Events are taking over that as yet haven’t peaked and seemingly not to be controllable by any governments worldwide.
There might be an agreement firming up to get the grain out of Ukraine. Which might help to calm stock markets, who are a bit volatile to say the least.
In her in case I agree with with you…but by virtue of that there are elements on the right that might see her as a usable tool, and at the same time getting more cabinet positions.
For me she would just accelerate the Tory demise as a serious party.

Pressure will be on for that time frame to be shortened. The Tories may also look at it and hope for a 'bounce back' factor and feel their best chance of another stint is to call a GE early before the new leader gets tarnished.

Watching PMQ’s I think Labour are very aware of that. Starmer just ignored Johnson and framed his attack at those who are/were complicit. He’s gone so tactics, hopefully, will change. They have too.

The worry as well is the reset button as well in that oh that was the other guy I’m new ( despite being in power for 12 years) so that’s nothing to do with me.

Or

Well we have to this to steady the ship but it’s not our fault it’s the other guy.

i am amazed with these candidates the tories think a further lurch to the right is what the electrotate want. truss mordant even rishi its electoral suicide

It's fascinating watching them all ripping each other to shreds. See Lord Frost has torn Maudant a new one saying she basically did F all when she was his deputy.

Actually makes me like her slightly more if that bell end doesn't like her. I've no doubt his comments on her competence are true like, but they can equally be applied to most of the other candidates. I admire the nerve of criticising someone for incompetence while backing Liz Truss. Got to love the Tories.

Think AM is right about Tugenhadt. The best chance Tories have of beating labour is a complete reset and he's the only one capable of doing that. Think the members might well pick him too if he can get to the final 2 against one of Johnson's old cabinet.

He'd probably be best for the country in the short term, but if he wins the next election definitely not for the long term.

Mrs Mordor, seemingly a stranger to us all, including the Tory party membership. She requires an introduction.

She’s among a group of people who have been preparing and actively attempting and successfully altering a lot of things we are now beginning to understand are not set in stone, and it will only be to our collective detriment. You don’t have to believe any of following piece. But the same people seem to omnipresent every time. The Mercer family. The Koch brothers with others, and their ever expanding band of political place men. As the Pete Atkin/ Clive James song says “ Beware the Beautiful Stranger”
