Think ive finally accepted we are a champo club

If we can keep up this transfer policy I fancy us to go up sooner rather than later, we have a plan at last, we're building the foundations of a decent side. It was never going to be easy buying almost a completely new team, the injuries have been ridiculous this season.

Lots of reasons to be positive and we're only 3 points off the playoffs, I also think the cup game has been a bit of a distraction this week.

Why is the championship our level? Fulham, Crystal Palace, Brighton, Bournemouth, Luton, Sheffield United, Burnley, your talking out your ****!! Are you telling me that those clubs that I've mentioned are bigger than us!! Not in my eyes and we should be equal if not above them.
I remember 30 odd years ago this bricklayer from somewhere on Marton Road explaining very carefully to the general foreman on the Morrisons Teesside Park construction site who was from Sheffield (United) how about 8th in the then second division was about the right level for the Boro, probably because we were about mid table in division two at the time.

Despite our 60 plus seasons in the top league over the years it’s an urban myth which persists.

Like most middle size clubs we go in cycles of being a bit up and a bit down, it’s only the big city clubs who have the resources, population and geography to keep pumping away consistently at the top.

Being promoted when the club isn't ready isn't a great idea.
We weren't properly ready after Karanka`s promotion and the last thing any Boro fan wants is to get promoted and be constantly humiliated, like Burnley, Luton, and Sheffield United.
Unless Steve Gibson finds a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, we're having to rebuild from the ground up.
Football in England is now so skewed by foreign tyrants investment and hedge-funders that the league system is no longer doing what it was meant to do.
For me, the Premier League can go down to ten clubs who play each other four times each in a season and fly off to the moon.
Go to four Divisions, include three-up, three-down from the National League and start again.
Just a Sunday - morning breakfast time idea?

Not sure what the answer is but you are spot on that the league system is no longer fit for purpose and is completely ruined by the limitless funds available to a number of clubs in the premier league. It’s like formula one now where only a very small number of clubs have any chance of winning and after that it’s about how far down the field you finish. It’s showing in the matches as well, there are some very poor quality matches in the Prem these days.

The “Premiership” is the cuckoo in English football.
It's taken over our game and pushed the majority of clubs aside, including clubs going bankrupt and others taken over by fraudsters, criminals and money-launderers.

Cuckoo is a perfect term for it, a situation aided and abetted by the sports media companies of course.

Maybe I’m getting old but I don’t think it is retrievable now the crooks have taken hold.

We’ve been a Championship Club every season apart from 1 since 2009. We most definitely are a Championship club.

Until Big Jack got us promotion , Boro had been in the old Second Division for about 2 decades with the odd relegation to the third tier reliving the monotony.

We’re 3 pts off the play offs where’s all this drama coming from
Still along way to go
This is part of the perception problem. The playoffs make it seem like everyone has a chance which keeps the championship interesting but the reality is that the best teams get promoted. If you aren't good enough to challenge for the automatics then you probably aren't getting promoted.

There hasn't been a 6th place team promoted in the last 10 years. Can't even find when it was. There's only been 3 6th placed team that have even made the final.

This is why I am much less pleased than others on here by this season's performance. I don't see scraping into the playoffs as a good season. Last season we had a brief flirtation with the autos and we should have been building on that and not being content with "only being 3 points off the playoffs". We're 11/1 for promotion which suggests that from this position we'd expect to be promoted once every 12 years which is nothing to be excited about.
