* The Unofficial "Official" Watford v Boro Match-Night Thread *

People are going on like we were hanging on for dear life and we needed to run the clock down. We looked just as likely to win as they did, we were the better team for most of the game.
Exactly. It all changes based on a flukey goal. Guarantee this board would read much different at 1-1.

Played well against a top team should and could have won etc.

Fine margins but the whole opinion changes from a good performance to everyone's garbage.

We look like conceding all the time. That starts in midfield. We never seem to be in the right position positionally. McNair is definitely not a defensive midfielder, Howson isn't either. We desperately need an upgrade on that position this week. Mowatt and Crooks can't track runners. The defenders are all over the place. We outnumber their attackers but somehow don't cover them and aren't in position to make blocks either.

João Pedro was able to just glide past several players at once in all areas of the pitch. He's a good player but he's not Messi, we shouldn't be so far off the pace.

Up front Muniz looks good but he'd look even better with another player up there with him. The switch from 2 up to 1 up has so far resulted in fewer goals scored. It means we're no longer able to defend from the front as effectively either

We won’t progress until we sort the right hand side of the team. No idea of the roles Jones and Crooks are playing - miles off start of last season. McNair on right of back three not helping. Need threat from both sides. Opposition to target closing Giles down and we will lose our only attacking outlet. Munoz looks a real fond but needs support.

Another couple of mm lower on the ball and he’s a genius.
That happens, what, 1 in a hundred times. Half way through the game, sure, try it. Not deep into injury time when you're trying to hold on to a draw.

At that point in the game, in the position he was in, you hold onto the ball and make sure you don't lose it.

I think stupidity is harsh. But extremely situationally unaware. And that's probably why he shouldn't have been on the pitch at that time. He seems the kind of player who will do unexpected things and we'll love him when they come off. But that's not what we needed at that time of the game.

At some point we have to get a lucky break. That was just cruel at the end. I wouldn't say that we deserved to win but we certainly didn't deserve to lose to a mishit shot that turned into a perfect pass. Did someone break a mirror somewhere?

McNair on the ball in midfield is an issue for me. It's either turn and play backwards to the keeper from their half. Or it goes long and high from own half.

Hard to believe it's the same player who played that lovely forward oss for the goals at the Riverside the other week.

Sitting at Watford High Street Station, gutted doesn’t even sum it up. Once again lots of possession, but don’t have that killer instinct a promotion contender needs, another season preparing for next season😂

Very harsh comments on Muniz who I thought was excellent. If he had scored he would be a legend. If he'd tried to hold onto the ball and lost it (most likely where he was) he would get pelters. Suppose getting some stick and some praise proves that point.
