Did it used to be an Italian restaurant in the 90s?

This is a bit random but I remember always calling in for a coke with my parents as child, because they used to give me a lollipop so I'd call in literally for that reason :ROFLMAO:

Not been in there for donkeys years but from the videos that have been posted, it's just people going out and enjoying themselves, good on em!

Lord Raglan was a bit further up wasn't it towards the bus station? Same side of the road. Then it changed to a Hogshead, then it disappeared I think.
No The Raglan as already posted was on the next block opposite the bottom entrance to The Cleveland Centre on thye corner of Doughlas Mews as you can see here.

3.60 a pint in infant and usually a good pint

I like the Infant Hercules but I would guess that even there the beer is about a £1 more than Pig Iron. Can't remember what it cost but its cheap as chips. But I would rather pay more for a good pint instead of the John Smiths Smooth.

Should probably clarify my earlier post. Yes I think both names are crap but choosing one I would go for The Pig Iron. When I say the pub is crap I am speaking solely about the standard of the beer. But thats me as I hate John Smiths Smooth with a passion and won't drink it so end up drinking cider all day. As mentioned elsewhere the people are fine and friendly, never get trouble, bar staff are probably the most efficient in town. It does get very full, and its always red hot in there and they do not let under 18's in even though they do in Central next door. When we have a young lad with us we go there but that has been totally rammed since the Ironops closed.

Smooth or Guinness for me and cold. I cannot drink anything I can still taste the following day. You are right about Cider too, much better than Real? Ale.

Well drink the Tetley Imperial then if you hate the smooth so much

I do sometimes but it is a bit powerful for daytime drinking. Not classed as a high % proof beer but Imperial always knocks hell out of me and my mates in The Wetsgarth. So start with a pint of Telteys and then change to cider.

I have never looked at the 'proof' of beer ever. I don't drink wine as I don't like it, hardly ever drink spirits as they don't seem worth the effort, Smooth, Caffreys and Guinness suit my bill.
