You mean the match he picked his injury up in?Bye bye Chuba. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out. Thanks for the memories but you went missing when it mattered in the playoffs.
Have you just realised it's a business? The aim to get the most money you can for a player for the agents.Decisions like this one make me wonder whether a player is nothing more than a commodity at the behest of whichever sports agency represents them.
I’m guessing he sees this as his one opportunity in life to protect his families future. 50k/week x 4 years will ensure a comfortable life for his family.he isn’t ever going to be in an English trophy winning team, so I guess he’s taking the money. Hard to begrudge him that. Two years at Ajax will probably earn him more than his entire career to dateIf he wants to sign he will the fa t he hasn’t says it all.
But I’m surprised a player that has spent his entire career as a nomadic wannabe is now prepared to gamble it all and walk away after last season from a team that he’s finally settled into.
Ah well I think he’ll regret. It.
First leg in the first minute ?You mean the match he picked his injury up in?
He didn't go missing in the first leg, but he did miss a couple of chancesFirst leg in the first minute ?
It would be nice to know that some players retain a preference for their connection to a club, over a few extra quid somewhere else.Have you just realised it's a business? The aim to get the most money you can for a player for the agents.
For the player it's in his best interest to get the biggest wages and transfer fees they can, as quick as they can. Its only a short career.
I think people are very nieve to think players "want to go to a club because they like the area" "they have friends there" "it's their home club" etc etc money talks end of.
If he goes to say Ajax, or similar, or a premier league club then surely you can say he's leaving to play at a higher level, rather than for just moneyIt would be nice to know that some players retain a preference for their connection to a club, over a few extra quid somewhere else.
Chuba the Christian, needs telling that it ain't 'God's plan' to follow after the money, 'cause he can't serve God and Mammon, no matter what his agent, who I assume makes these decisions for him might think.
He went missing from May 1st against Rotherham and wasn’t seen since. He played in 4 games and scored 0 goals. Not alone in going missing, most of the team did.He didn't go missing in the first leg, but he did miss a couple of chances
That's a fair point. If he goes to say Ajax, or similar, or a premier league club then surely you can say he's leaving to play at a higher level, rather than for just money
exactly he could easily have had a strop about the playing with the reserves and no being given a shirt number, but he just stayed professional. That's a fair point.
I don't begrudge Chuba an opportunity we can't offer him. He's conducted himself impeccably during his time here.
Difference is, he's never been played in the position MC has played him in. I hope for his sake if he does move elsewhere they don't stick him up top as a number 9.They're not in the champions league next season
It’s not like Lens are accidentally buying Chuba for £10m with the intention of playing him out of position.Difference is, he's never been played in the position MC has played him in. I hope for his sake if he does move elsewhere they don't stick him up top as a number 9.
True. Chuba would've just had the season of his life in the final year of his deal if it weren't for that extra 12 month option.exactly he could easily have had a strop about the playing with the reserves and no being given a shirt number, but he just stayed professional.
What this whole scenario should tell us is that every deal in future MUST be with a one year additional clause, that we can invoke. If we had that clause, then we protect our investments better. Especially if we are int eh business of buying cheap and improving players, to maximise value we need that extra 1 year option
I know we all love him, but saying stuff like "he's too good for the Eredivisie" is madness. Lest we forget he wasn't exactly setting the world alight in the Greek Superleague, nor anywhere else in his career until last season.
