The Budget

I’m actually pretty shocked and i’d even go so far to say petrified by what I’m reading regarding the mini-budget. I’m not savvy re financial or economics stuff at all, but it seems completely reckless and irresponsible and the markets would appear to be reacting as such.
We are desperate for a steady hand to guide us through these challenging times, not a bunch of incompetent gamblers, charlatans and thieves.
What the hell happened to us?! The Tories have completely destroyed one of the greatest countries in the world in a few short years.
Yet people still vote for them and will vote for these thieving racist murderers once again. Lizz Truss the most incompetent buffoon going is our prime minister, we are going down the pan and in QuickTime too.

Now even their own back benchers are worried that "they are going to tank the economy". Its no longer "we" They are already trying to disassociate themselves from government policy.

There's a chasm developing in the tory party and the financial institutions have already demonstrated that they too have no confidence.

Thick Lizzie could be about to become the new shortest serving PM. The knives are already being sharpened.

They are grabbing everything that isn't nailed.
When the next government walk it to No10, its going to look like a house that Rav just moved out of.

Buckle up, it going to be a long winter. Expect a national strike - called for by the people and not by the unions.

I hoping that might change going forward. A lot of people voted for Boris and were sucked in by his persona (a la Trump in America) and his Brexit triumphilism. People are now starting to really see what the tories are like and will hopefully finally accept that they only look after one group of people and it’s not the majority. Labour to smash in to Truss at every opportunity and once in power set about radical political reform which ensures these people can never ever come to power again.

I would not be surprised to see Johnson back at the helm before the next election, even with Cummings by his side as Murdoch and his cronies true to sell them as the dream ticket!!!

Today's budget is the first stage of the actual implementation of Brexit by the now supreme ERG. The next stage will be the crushing of workers rights with the help of the police. That is what they mean by 'taking back control'. Control of the population as rights-free sweat-shop drones.

Another dissembling Tory **** stain:

Here is the exchange between Kwasi Kwarteng, the chancellor, and the BBC’s Chris Mason.

MASON: Do you think the economy is in recession?

KWARTENG: Technically, the Bank of England said that there was a recession, I think it’ll be shallow and I hope that we can rebound and grow

MASON: So you’re acknowledging that there is going to be a recession

KWARTENG: I’m not acknowledging that, no no I said that there is technically a recession. We’ve had two quarters of very little, negative growth and I think these measures are gonna help us drive growth.

MASON: a recession is a recession and you’re saying we’re in recession

KWARTENG: I’m not saying we’re in recession, I’m referring to what the Bank has said. And I think we’re gonna drive growth with these policies

MASON: what’s the difference between a technical recession and a recession

KWARTENG: There’s a big difference. Technically, the economists say two consecutive quarters, but I think we’re going to grow the economy, that’s what we’re doing that’s what we’re focused on.

This is bit like my fight to fit into a pair of jeans I've not worn in a while...

Probably all true.
But what if was much more mundane than that. Just a classic manoeuvre of shorting the pound and then acquiring cheap sterling assets. Anything is possible with these corrupt f*ks. Interesting theory.

There should be consequences for people who spout crap like that.

Cons cut taxes before election so they can call out labour as party who will raise taxation and put the fear into all middle income voters. It's a tactic as old as the hills.

‘The Country’……….

When will it dawn on people that this Tory government (and the last) do not give a flying firk about the country?

They are in it for their and their cronies self interest.

Truss - biggest donor for her campaign interviewed before she won. ‘If you had a magic wand what would you want‘. Of all things bothering him it was…… ‘bankers bonuses’

Rees Mogg and fracking - his biggest donor makes his money investing in fracking companies and…… on the money exchange. Wonder if he had a few quid on the £ tanking.

None if it really matters.
Enough people in England are comfortable enough to just crack on.
They will now be told if there is a change of government their taxes will go up.
So, they will all get a bit cross at the current unfairness and promptly give their vote to the Tories.

This sums it up rather well

Something needs to be done about house prices. What? I'm not sure. But it's nigh on impossible people to get on the housing ladder at the moment unless they inherit a substantial amount of cash or have a **** got job.

Randy - there just aren’t enough houses. It really is a simple supply/demand issue.
The governmetnt could resolve it (and promised to) by building more).

If they do that - house prices drop, more people get a house
but

The house builders profits will suffer and many in the middle income bracket will see their house prices fall
Not a good look for the Tory’s

So from this budget, the biggest winners are bankers and city traders with their now uncapped bonuses that benefit from lower tax thresholds, who are now getting filthy rich by selling the pound down the toilet.

I don't think interests rates will that much of effect on house prices for the simple reason people aren't moving and so there's a scarcity of available houses to buy. Anecdotally all the houses in my area are selling within 4 to 6 weeks of coming on the market for the asking price

Makes sense.

Hell I'd love to build my own house but will never be in the financial situation to do so unless I won the lottery. 😭

There will be loads of houses soon - as the poor die of cold and starvation this winter….
