SO, the bloke leaves the Boro, is everyone now happy with liquidation ....because thats the reality ? he will cope but i remember duffield etc who were saviours etc , only one has been there long term ?
That’s only the reality because of the way the club is run, huge debts due to the many mistakes made in recent years

What exactly would you of done differently during his tenure of this club , bearing in mind he knows the figures & we do not

Just clicked on that and see I’m mentioned, some poor bloke appears to be accused of being me 🤣

Also says I got him arrested and posted on a thread about his wife, anyone have any clue what he’s going on about because it’s news to me.

I do feel for him though, terrible to lose your partner. There’s no way I would post anything bad on a thread about someone’s wife dying.
I don't know anything about that - not seen any such thread or comment, my comment was just about the constant ranting about this place.... but yes clearly a post about that is in the worst possible taste and should be called out.

I remember seeing the thread before it got taken down, the OP asked why there wasn’t already a thread about it, and there were definitely some posts along the lines of why should anyone care about this person when….. etc etc

It got taken down pretty swiftly. Can’t recall who commented though.

I definitely didn’t post on it, not my way to comment negatively on someone’s passing. Think he must have me mixed up with someone else.

No idea what he’s referring to with getting him arrested either, haven’t a clue who he is.

Looking around a bit on Twitter though, seems he’s accused BoroMart of the same thing.

I’m sure these are all great people but we don’t have the transcripts of every meeting they’ve ever been in.

I’ve no doubt Gibson can be an absolute bully when he wants to be, but I bet most of those names can be too on occasion. When you get that rich, you’re not in it for society even if you want to portray that you are.
I don’t think so. I’ve been in many meetings with a large number of highly successful people, who have always been polite and wholly trustworthy. Not a peer reviewed exercise, of course, but those who were bullies were much less successful in my trade sector.

Nobody is justifying it.

And of course he isn’t “seriously powerful”, he’s a local football club owner and well known rich bloke, but beyond the TS postcodes he’s unrecognisable to the vast majority of people. He has a degree of power in Teesside though.

Colin has a point though, we don’t know exactly why he was behaving like that and I’d guess Private Eye aren’t going to tell us. Not that that justifies the language used.
You don’t think the local press would have published details of any extenuating circumstances?

What would justify the use of personal threats given in a business meeting?
I think that the crux of it. Unbelievably unprofessional.

One of my former colleagues was given advice by his father in law who moved/played in those high powered CEO circles, always, always stay calm and level headed no matter how bad/how personal things are. State facts, not opinions. Don't get personal. And don't start issuing threats - once this happens the person doing the threatening has lost the negotiations and they know it.

Possibly this exchange was the end of Gibsons involvement or was the beginning of the end? 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

i can & some should be ashamed of themselves

Me too. Some are bullies some aren’t, but even the bullies aren’t bullies 100% of the time.

I’m not going to judge Gibson purely on one account of one meeting but it doesn’t surprise me that he has this streak in him (and some of the language was totally out of order and he surely won’t be proud of it).

There isn’t a local press. There is Newsquest and Reach plc, they would only do so if it was in their interests.

Incidentally I’ve dealt with both CEOs of those organisations. Draw your own conclusions about what I’ve been saying about “powerful people”.
