Jones tortured Sunderland last season so why drop him?I think that will end up being our strongest team. Not sure Rav, Doak and McGree will already be ready for Saturday.

Conway. It's a tactical change. He can probably find himself a little unlucky but i think we need ball players in there to get a better control of the midfield. McGree and Azaz are exactly that. I don't think we need two players that can stretch Sunderland at the back. Lathe will do that on his own.Who would you drop for McGree?
Jones?
Latte Lath?
Conway?
So did Greenwood.Jones tortured Sunderland last season so why drop him?
I would tend to agree....Carrick gives players every chance....I expect 1 change - Morris to come in - if we don't win though it could be a bench rest for Azaz with McGree coming in aswell as Doak starting versus Stoke for Izzy.I think it'll be Azaz over McGree, I doubt he's fully fit given he didn't play a minute yesterday, but I'd agree with that team.
I'm assuming that's still meant to be Conway at 10.
Problem is - he's not match fit and neither will VDB so it edmundson for me even if Rav is fit.I think McGree is one of the most important players in our first XI. I'd have him back in the side as soon as possible.
My only change would be Gilbert for Conway.Dieng

Morris, Hackney
Doak, Conway, McGree

no idea what to expect from sunderland....they've just been badly beaten by relegation fodder in plymouth so might have a few doubts after that....however, if the atmosphere lifts them we could well be in for a very long 90 mins.Dieng
Ayling RVDB Clarke Borges
Morris Hackney
Jones Azaz McGree
Lathe
Sunderland have a strong centre midfield three. Playing McGree and Azaz will give us more ball players in central areas which will hopefully prevent them from dominating as they like to in these areas.
Doak doesn't get a look in and Conway is the unlucky loser due to a tactical switch.
Because he's been poor, average at best, this season.Jones tortured Sunderland last season so why drop him?
They fancy themselves as a team that plays football. They're not going to sit in against us, like many do, so should play right into out hands. If we play well we'll beat them. I'm not sure any of their players would get in our starting 11.no idea what to expect from sunderland....they've just been badly beaten by relegation fodder in plymouth so might have a few doubts after that....however, if the atmosphere lifts them we could well be in for a very long 90 mins.
That said, we could easily go there and stuff them.
Must win? We're one point off the top 6, worst case 4 off after Saturday? Doesn't seem like a 4 point gap would be insurmountable over the course of the rest of the season?
That's where we differ then. It's fine to aim for top 2 but if we flip it, do you think not finishing in the top 2 will be deemed a failure? It's the top 2 we should be aiming for this season, not just the top 6.
A defeat would leave us at least 8 points off one of the automatic spots, probably 9 off 1st and 8 off 2nd.

I'm not convinced the club do.
Agree, think top 6 is probably the target this season, promotion the next.I think finishing in the top 6 is the absolute bare minimum that would be acceptable this season.
Scraping 6th isn't going to be a huge achievement with the squad we have this season.
This For me too. Love the look of it.Dieng

They are an energetic side who are happy to concede possession and play on the counter. Very organised under le bris so i think it will be a tough game. We cant take any chances playing it out from the back and must find some way of protecting our left side which has been wide open. They fancy themselves as a team that plays football. Too soon for Doak to start.
I doubt McGree is fully fit, otherwise he’d have played a part last week.
I also doubt Rav will be risked from the start.
So I think it will be:
