Sunderland vs Coventry

They're a bunch of yard dogs. No doubt if they stay up they'll get stronger every year but they're nowhere near a promotion pushing side.

No way this guy would come to us. Cov look very good to me, it would be a sideways move at best
He would come if you pay him what he was asking but he is simply going to be too expensive for us.

No disrespect to Coventry I’m sure he is more ambitious than them in the same way Tav’s ambitions are taking him away from the Riverside.

I can see a lower range premier league club bidding for him.

And that Ladies and Gentlemen is why in one hit we need to splash the cash.......imagine with Giles and Jones supplying crosses, he would have a field day.....however can we afford him ?, and would he come....

I think todays game from Coventry suggests how good O'Hare is at making them tick. They were poor compared to how they looked last year.

Big Vik what a player, this has to be the guy Wilder was talking about when he said we were quoted 20 mill plus

Might he put a transfer request in??
That salarysport site online has him on about £6k per week.
(Btw it also has Jack Clarke on 1.3m per year so might be complete b@llox)

Would love us to sign him but he may be better off waiting, having another good season with Coventry then going to the prem next year.

Funny isn't it. By all accounts Gyokeres is keen to move. But so far noone has met Coventry's valuation so he's still there.

Whereas we seem to be operating on a basis of if a player wants to move we have to roll over and accept the best offer even if it's clearly much lower than we'd like.

We're a soft touch no matter how much the club are desperately trying to suggest otherwise. Unless of course the club actively wanted to sell Tav, but that's not what they're saying.

I think there is a lot of behind the scenes talks with these kinds of things and 'gentlemen's agreements' made. It was widely recognised that Ben Gibson would stay an extra season, help a promotion push but then the season after if someone was interested then we would let him go. It's likely similar happened with Tav. We probably got less for Gibson hanging on a year. We are probably getting more for Tav than if we'd sold last summer.

Well maybe, you're right we don't know what's happening behind the scenes. It doesn't sound like there was any agreement like that given the club and Wilder's comments but who knows.

From the outside looking in though, it just looks a bit weak though. Also seems to be a risk of setting a dangerous precedent maybe?

The club seem to be saying they had to accept the offer because the player pushed for it. Doesn't exactly strengthen our negotiating position for future transfers. If I was working for another club I'd be quite confident of holding firm on a lower valuation in the hope the player "pushes for the move" and Boro feel they have no choice but to accept it.
