Stop Posting the Conspiracy Rubbish

Have you tried doing an 8 hour shift in a mask?

A few weeks back I worked 10 hours a day in a mask for 10 days straight (and a safety helmet, safety glasses, ear defenders, overalls and safety boots). The bloody glasses kept steaming up but if you slip 'em down your nose they're OK.
If you are used to wearing PPE (I've worked in BA) masks are sod all.

My daughters do it every day on the NHS frontline - for 12 hours each shift of often physical, manual work. Yes wearing the mask is a pain, but they do it because it's the right thing to do.
Similarly my neighbours daughter who works at James Cook. Saw some pictures of all the kit she had to wear in ITU, flipping heck. She told a tale of someone who had been in a coma since before covid. When they were brought out of it and saw the state of all the staff in full regalia they completely freaked out.

........... and the point is not everyone works in an office some people have to wear some right cr@p every working day (ask coppers about stab proof vests in the summer). Why do they put up with it? 'Cos it saves lives and so does wearing a mask in the supermarket for half an hour, just get on with it.

Our friend is a nurse who worked on the COVID ward at the QE during the summer and she showed me some pics of them in their PPE, they looked like the guys who come to Elliot's house to capture ET. What you can't see in the pics though is that they had 3 layers of the protective suits on and their gloves were taped on at the cuffs, then the masks and visors on top of all that. She said they just didn't go to the loo throughout a 12 hour shift because it was simply too much hassle to de-robe and then suit up again

All to save lives. If I can't manage a nice comfy mask for 10 minutes in the shop to help the collective effort then I shouldn't leave the house

Lol.

People are allowed to question things, doesn't make them a conspiracy theorist. I work in healthcare, I know COVID is real but I am allowed to form my own opinions (based on data) about the success of lockdowns and other curbs on society.

Enable honest debate and don't shut it down. Democracy.

The good thing about masks is that it has allowed me to tell my missus to hurry up when we're out shopping. Cut my weekly amount of time spent in store by half I think!

You go shopping with the missus?

Sod that.😂

Well, and I imagine the hospital might pipe up if they didn't too :)

TBF its ages since I've seen anyone on here say they won't wear a mask (in shops and what not). I would like to know how anyone copes with a 12 hour shift with mask and glasses though, there must be a knack to it that those less experienced mark-wearers amongst us aren't getting. I wear my contacts on days when I know it'll be on and off all the time.

Do you wear gegs dood? And if so, how do you make it tolerable for that length of time?
I do. Make sure your mask fits well across the nose either with a thin metallic strip or by it being a nice flexible fabric with a bit of stretch. The other thing I've found is that the thin elastic on the blue surgical-type masks can cut into the back of your ears and wrap around the arms of your glasses.
I have a variety of masks, but the best ones I've found are the Smart Masks and the ones from Hype.

Can people stop posting this conspiracy rubbish on here.
Thousands have died, thousands more have been very sick and thousands more would perish if we did not respect this pandemic - and that is just in this country.
We are all sick of the way our lives have been constrained and many of us are appalled at the poor handling but it is all too real.
So stop posting this stuff. Go and ask someone working at your local hospital about the real toll. Because sadly lots and lots of people are continuing to pay the ultimate price. Have some respect for them and their families.

I don’t believe any of that conspiracy stuff but surely people can post what they want if that’s their opinion.

Free speak and all as long as the line is towed?

Are facts ok? Like the fact that the virus has killed 0.07 percent of the uk population at an average age of 82?

And it's only the 19th biggest cause of death. If the government had spent this year's money tree over the last 10 years this would be a better place.

I don't care what Rob says there is a rabbit off.

I can confirm it’s real here in the Middle East too and needs to be taken seriously. That perhaps debunks the conspiracy theory though that it’s all just a Tory **** up. There’s no magic wands knocking about anywhere as far as I am aware...

When I saw the title of this, I wondered if this was a Strachan compensation thread.

Doesn't debunk anything about them driving to Barnard Castle, lying through their teeth when questioned and then not wearing masks when they think there are no cameras.

That might be a fact and I might be one of the 99.93% who won't die, but for those who will lose their life to this highly infectious disease, myself and the other 99.93% are potential killers.
That's the danger of stats, they can take the focus away from the most important points.
