This reminded me of a thought I’d had recently when visiting home - has the Middlesbrough accent become increasingly “geordified” over the last 10-20 years?

When I was growing up (in Middlesbrough), I remember most people with a Middlesbrough accent being pretty monotonous. Now everytime I visit (having moved away 13 years ago) I hear more and more “ayes” and even an occasional lilting “yanoo”.
 
They've just let Alan Shearer in to dive in the penalty box. The game will start with a penalty to Newcastle and Clarke sent off.

I don’t get this angle at all. That bar would’ve been sold out for that game anyway. Why have they given it to Newcastle?
 
I can't imagine they'll be charging significantly more to Newcastle fans than they would their own. The red carpet treatment they've given Newcastle absolutely baffles me.

I won't lie, I don't think I'd be particularly bothered if one of our hospitality sections was given over to away fans and had a few Carling banners put up, but then I don't go in hospitality.

It's not like any of the messages were outrageous.

I understand the fans that are annoyed about getting turfed out of their regular seats to accommodate their biggest rivals though.
