ST Sales Re-Open to Gold Card Holders

I put together some points for the club tomorrow - and they appear in this thread too.
Gold Card status , your seat and loyalty points all should be frozen for the season. No one should feel they are being forced to do something they feel it is not safe for themselves. I also thought the club should come out at the earliest possible time and talk about what steps they are taking to ensure people's safety.
And be as open about what is going to happen as possible.

Rob can you also ask the question on what happens with younger family members that you go to games with. They cannot due to age attain gold card status yet so do you just say "sorry kids you can't go". They are in fact the clubs future.

This is the key point for me. My father who i sit with doesn't feel safe going but wants to be sure he isn't going to lose that gold card status and access to cheaper renewal etc next season. I'll probably renew this week, but i'm not 100% sure (do i want to go on my own in a 2/3 empty stadium)? - probably. I'd like all the information to hand to make that decision easier though.

Overall i'm not sure what the fairest thing the club could do is, but overall the criticism of their strategy is harsh - they have to make a plan in the most difficult circumstances. Just that little bit of extra info would be useful though

To use zaphod as an example, he only goes to away games because he lives in London. I am a season ticket holder and live in the NE so can only go to home games as away games are ruled out because of other commitments. Are you suggesting that zaphod should be a greater priority for the opportunity to renew than I am?

In the interests of transparency, I have renewed already, I took a gamble not knowing what the situation would be, but that's my choice to gamble or hang fire

I don't know if zaphod has a ST by the way, I'm just using him for illustrative purposes due to the situation he described for himself. Hope you don't mind zaphod!
I used to have an ST, but driving up for home games got too much when I got into my 60s

Renew your Gold card or lose it and your seat is what someone has been told this morning.

My understanding is that gold card status is not something that can be attained at all. It's those who have been season ticket holders since the Riverside opened so by definition the numbers with it will fall with time. I'm guessing the club have done this so that no one loses gold card status through no fault of their own.

They dont, look at a few years ago at the playoff game with Brentford, a season ticket holder who had been to every away game that season spending thousands in the process, had the same chance of a ticket as a season ticket holder that had been to zero away games. How is that fair?

Probably not going to be much of an issue for us at the moment but surely fans who spend the most and go to the most games have to get some sort of priority for the high demand away games, which is why it was brought in

It's a difficult one, and everyone has a different view of loyalty, and their own status as a fan.
From my point of view i've been a long term season ticket holder who used to go to lots of away games but doesn't now as I have small kids etc. But you sort of feel like you've banked that loyalty over the years. Should someone who just happens to be at an age or situation where circumstances allow them to get to lots of away games jump ahead in terms of opportunity for big game tickets? I don't know really.

Just spent over an hour waiting in the queue from number 24, when I got to the front it said' your call cannot be taken ' and cut me off !!

It’s difficult but when do they give you up to. What if a vaccine is 2 years away?
Holidays will let you change to next year, your keep your place, but pay next years price.

I agree there is obviously a limit, but certainly this season is too soon for a lot of people. Far too many unanswered questions. At least by next season we should have a clearer picture, good or bad

I'd like to think that's incorrect. Many just won't feel safe returning and shouldn't lose out as a result
My thoughts exactly but that is what they were told. Didn't want to renew because they couldn't renew their kids at the same time.

I am surprised at this, if it is true. Maximising revenue is important, I get that, it is a business after all. However, If they are using that as a tactic to pressure people into a renewal and would remove someones status because they are concerned about their health and the virus, then that would be a shabby way to treat long standing fans. Surely the club are better than that. I can’t believe they would do that.

They could easily allow a years grace and/or offer them a Digital SC instead, as a minimum to people for 1 yr allowing continued subscription at a lower rate and keeping their seat and status the season after. They will sell the capacity out with others in the meantime, so wont have a shortfall in permitted take up.

It’s a difficult situation but the club need to seriously consider their comms and offers otherwise they could alienate a lot of people. Come on Gibbo, don’t mess this up!

I don't believe for one minute MFC will do that and remove the Gold Card status from a fan who chooses to shield instead....unless of course they shield for longer than a full season, maybe 2 seasons.

If MFC did do that, then it would be very harsh and leave a very sour taste with fans.

I think people should pay to keep the status, but be able to watch games at home for free if they have paid for a season ticket for the season. Also for next season ignore the transferability rule, so other people can use your ticket if they are in the same price bracket. so a child can use a retired persons ticket. The club is not asking anyone to pay more than they would normally.

Everyone is going to miss the first 3 weeks of the season, so broadcasting will very likely set up for then for every season ticket holder. It appeared to work well in the Summer. A second wave could hit us in the next 2 months and that would stop everyone going, so everyone is taking a financial risk not just high risk categories. These are strange times, but they are temporary times.

The current predictions are for a vaccine to be ready at the end of the year. Phase 3 trials are happening now they can take up to 6 months, but as short as 3 months. There are several vaccines in phase 3 trials too. I honestly don't see the virus being the issue it is today in 12 months time. Spanish flu did take 18 months to wear itself out without a vaccine. Covid19 is nearly 9 months old.

Its not nice to think about but when a very elderly person buys a season ticket there is often the risk they will not be able to attend for the next 12 months (with and without Covid19).

I'm hoping the club does this for ST holders like myself who have missed out on the early bird offer.

A season ticket used to buy you the opportunity the purchase away tickets before they go on general sale. Prior to corona virus and the announcement of the loyalty scheme i'd considered buying a season ticket. It wasn't worth my while financially as i miss a lot of games due to work but i thought it gives me away ticket priority. Once they announced the loyalty scheme the season ticket no longer offered that benefit in reality.
