ST Sales Re-Open to Gold Card Holders

A season ticket used to buy you the opportunity the purchase away tickets before they go on general sale. Prior to corona virus and the announcement of the loyalty scheme i'd considered buying a season ticket. It wasn't worth my while financially as i miss a lot of games due to work but i thought it gives me away ticket priority. Once they announced the loyalty scheme the season ticket no longer offered that benefit in reality.

They brought it in because of away game demand. We both have season tickets but I go to the first 10 away games and you don’t. We then both have the same chance of getting tickets for the 11th away game and I miss out. That wasn’t fair

So let me get this right.

You're saying if someone goes to 10 away games in a row (none of which were a sell out) and then the 11th away game is an 'in demand' away game....some one who hasn't been to an away game all season has the same chance of getting a ticket for the 11th away game as the other supporter who has been to 10 previously?

Yeah righto.

Thankfully a loyalty scheme is in place to avoid those type of unfair situations happening.

You would still get some sort of priority over general sale though. Dont think we will have had many games where it sold out before it got to season ticket holders with no extra priority points

I agree but it doesn't give you the priority it used to ensure. A season ticket, in essence, is now a devalued product due to the loyalty scheme.

A season ticket still offers good value.

It's cheaper than buying every home game separately, it gives you priority over home cup games - at discounted prices too. It gives you priority over away games over fans who don't have season tickets....I could go on.

I go to away games but not all of them usually about 7 or so nowadays. It used to be a free for all, which I was happy with and thought every SC holder had an equal chance. I missed out a couple of times, but was happy enough with the old method. I think any system that segregates fans from one another is to some degree divisive, especially as Boro’s is carried forward over 2 seasons. No system suits everyone and human nature says most folk will want anything that gives them an advantage of another fan and argue for a system that suits them.

It doesn't offer the same value as it used to, that's a simple fact. Under my personal circumstances, the loyalty scheme stopped me from buying one.

So the only reason you don't have a season ticket is because some fans could potentially qualify for an away ticket before you?

As i said previously, i don't see the financial benefit of a season ticket due to work commitments. So that's not a reason for buying a season ticket. The other substantial benefit is first dibs on away tickets. That is no longer a guaranteed benefit, so there's no point in purchasing a season ticket.

So if you have 14000 season tickets wanting to go to leeds away, 2nd last game of the season, how do you guarantee that the 1000 or so that have been to most other away games get a ticket?
I have to say that your talking rubbish.
As posted above, buying a season ticket gives you priority over none season tickets or people who go to 20 home/away games a season.

You never got guaranteed an away ticket because in some games the demand outweighed supply

You're right, you're not guaranteed a ticket. You were guaranteed an opportunity as a season ticket holder. That's no longer the case.

Before the loyalty scheme, there wasn't a guarantee that you'd get an away ticket with having a season ticket. However there is now an opportunity of having a greater chance of getting an 'in demand' away ticket than before.

Your right on that but it’s still worth having the season card as you would still generally get a ticket albeit a few days later. General sale has no chance when we’re doing well

Anyway, if you want to gauge West Ham's opinion of how their owners are doing, they're currently about to sign Martin Braithwaite for some exorbitant fee, purely for his 6 months at Barca.

Wont let me renew because theyve disabled my nephews card on my account which leaves me as a single adult in the GRFZ which isnt allowed

That’s ridiculous and very unfair. Is that because your nephew isn’t a gold card holder (and can’t ever be?). So sorry the club are being inflexible over this.

Im sure if i ring up it can be sorted but just assumed it could be sorted with a couple of clicks. Obviously MFC would rather have another £420-500 in the bank than give my nephew a free ticket which he would have still had if id renewed before sales were suspended so its partly my fault he wont be able to attend games next season. Hopefully once stadiums are allowed to operate as normal his ticket will be reinstated

Ridiculous.

They've told one of our group who is shielding for health reasons if he doesn't renew by Saturday he loses his gold card status, at the same time as they're not able to provide any info on what precautions they will have in place. Tell you what they can ram it, disgusting way to treat loyal supporters in a global pandemic.
