ST Sales Re-Open to Gold Card Holders

My understanding is that gold card status is not something that can be attained at all. It's those who have been season ticket holders since the Riverside opened

In theory that should be correct, but isn't - the card may have been continually renewed since the Riverside opened, but are there are cases where the original "holder" has either died or passed it on to other family members or friends, but it has been kept in the original name to maintain the privilege ? .... for the avoidance of doubt, this is a rhetorical question as I know there are.

Yet another reason why this infatuation the club has of pandering to this group should stop.

Also, looking at this thread as somebody with no interest the outcome, living abroad as I do, I find the sense of entitlement being displayed on some posts in this thred staggering - we're in the middle of a pandemic, there are likely to be restrictions for months if not years to come, in life never mind sport, and you've got blokes squabbling because they think they're more important than another bloke when it comes to getting a ticket for a football match FFS

I didn't know that. If they are doing that it's fraudulent, surely?

Yes I believe some people were allowed to do this within families. I suppose it could have been before Gold Cards were brought in.

I also thought the terms and conditions stated tickets were not transferable, as it is a benefit, as can be seen currently, it is like an adult buying a kids ticket to attain a cheaper entry to the ground.

Lots of people share season cards, whether officially or not and surely as long as an adult is not getting in on a child's ticket (concession) we are all delighted about that. It won't be possible next season though because of track and trace.

Some people buy season cards to donate to charity or causes. Norwegian Boro fans donate for GRFZ tickets every year for families. Boro Dreams donate seats every year. Some individuals buy season cards year in year out and ask the club to find suitable people to sit there every match. Red Faction have fund raised for key workers next season.

There are so many very different sets of circumstances for SC holders and so many different perspectives of what is right and fair.
That makes it very difficult to clearly communicate to everyone's satisfaction.

I strongly believe the Club will do the "right thing" and treat their SC holders fairly. They have my good will.

Where they have capacity to sell they will do so rewarding loyalty and ensure meeting safety guidelines.
If some choose not to renew due to health concerns, their status and rights will be held.
Those impacted by reduced capacity will have their status and rights held.
As capacity is legally increased, more people will be allowed to purchase again in the fairest way deemed possible.
As Malaguena says however, it is a football match, the club are between a rock and a hard place and people might want to get some perspective here.
All this rubbish about ballots in such variable circumstances and trying to pander to every individual whim is just impracticable and unnecessary IMHO.

But surely in those instances, the cards should be marked appropriately and proof of intent shown at time of purchase, you can’t simply just inherit cards retaining the beneficial status (Gold Card), so basically keeping the name of the original card holder but being used by the new card holder, that is definitely not the right and fair way to go on.

The problem is if they want to do that they should have scrapped all pre-Covid sales and started again. There have been 6k sales which have not rewarded loyalty. So which is it to be: reward loyalty or let any 2019-20 SC holder in?

Will I get loyalty points for this year's ST? If they carry over last year's points to next year for non-purchasers, could they end up with more points than an ST holder this year (with no away ticket points to be had)?

Am hoping there will be no loyalty points issued for renewing your season ticket - or if automatically applied they will be taken off again.

This is what I understand from Football Supporters Association - reduced capacities and if away fans are allowed will be arrived at club by club - between the club and local safety group.
We have still not heard from EFL about streaming next season - again it will be club by club but we haven't heard about SKY and the red button and how that might impact on things.
An awful lot is up in the air and it is a very fluid situation - obviously we do not know when we will be able to enter stadia etc. But then again there are few certainties with a pandemic on.

Can't beat a bit of Gold Card holder bashing. If I've been pandered to I must have flipping missed it. All the club is interested in is money. It has a group of people who it knows are going to renew come hell or high water regardless of the fare on offer, regardless of the division we're in. Everyone was very keen on a loyalty points system but quite quickly (before all this carry on) some then wanted to massage the system to suit their own situation and somewhat bafflingly didn't seem to see continuously renewing a season ticket for the last 46 years as being very loyal.

For the record I would have much preferred to have had a ballot system to decide who got to go but the club seems to have decided this is too complex. I have a foot in both camps. I renewed before the season end and informed my son but he decided he would wait for the deadline announcement (the money being better off in his account), it now looks like he will miss out. I may well share with him but he travels from away and going on your tod kind of defeats the object.

Gold Card simply means loyal support, I agree there are plenty of reasons to for not being able to go to keep that level of support up, but Im glad the club recognises good and loyal support.

Was down the ticket office today, fella in there said renewals only go back on sale on Monday via phone first come first served. Reckons there will be around 2000 or so on sale.

Delete your post and keep schtum!
Cheers for the heads up

Can you imagine if they let away fans into the stadium when the capacity for home fans is reduced?

How would the club choose who gets to go to away games if that is the case? Current season ticket holders? Ballot for all?

Anyone who told me that the club “had handled it as best they could” wish to revise that analysis?
