ST Sales Re-Open to Gold Card Holders

I put together some points for the club tomorrow - and they appear in this thread too.
Gold Card status , your seat and loyalty points all should be frozen for the season. No one should feel they are being forced to do something they feel it is not safe for themselves. I also thought the club should come out at the earliest possible time and talk about what steps they are taking to ensure people's safety.
And be as open about what is going to happen as possible.

If its 9k capacity most people will not have to move far. Remember there will be no away fans, no segregation. family groups can be kept together. The q's for the drinks bar should be shorter, if its open.

It still isn't fair though is it.

One fan could easily get to see games where they compete v Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, Man C and Man U

Others may get Palace, Burnley, Villa, West Brom, Brentford/Fulham, Newcastle.

Yes I appreciate they are more likely to get a win in the second list, but all fans want to see their team compete against the best. Are you a gold card holder.. Seemingly not (if not, shock horror why you argue a different way to give you the best chance).

No system is fair to all, a ballot has winners and losers even if you get to see the same number of games.

That's the worst rationale i've seen for knocking back a ballot system yet. For context i'm not a season ticket holder. I don't know if a ballot can be carried out on a match by match basis (would seem strange that some system couldn't be put in place) but there is zero reason why a ballot couldn't be carried out for all season ticket holders at the start of the season. That's the fairest way to do it given no one under 30 can hold a gold card.

Loyalty points need F***ing off.

The more years as a ST holder the more loyal the fan is, eventually those young uns will be stalwarts and the longest serving. I would imagine a lot of current gold card holders children will among the ones who got in. It is a shame that some ST holders with decent years of support will miss out temporarily, but will get a TV code. Part timers and walk ups will use radio or dodgy firesticks. They will support in their way too.

They dont, look at a few years ago at the playoff game with Brentford, a season ticket holder who had been to every away game that season spending thousands in the process, had the same chance of a ticket as a season ticket holder that had been to zero away games. How is that fair?

Probably not going to be much of an issue for us at the moment but surely fans who spend the most and go to the most games have to get some sort of priority for the high demand away games, which is why it was brought in

I don't follow your logic/argument.

I do.
Those who renewed - the 6k - chose to actually give the Club their money at a time when it was far from clear what division we would be in and whether they would be able to get in the stadium to use their "seat".

I didn't do that, so fully believed those 6k deserved priority access in a restricted stadium capacity.

Any remaining capacity then needs to be allocated via a hierarchy of priority.

My view is Gold Card holders wishing to renew should be next.
Box holders should be allowed to renew their boxes too.
Followed by long standing SC holders by prefix/records inc long standing Hospitality SC's.
This will still require admin/org complexity because of different bubbles, but is much more manageable.
Remember they are having to work much harder to stay in line with social distancing and for much less revenue.

As capacity is allowed to rise, then the club can go down the list, until eventually it gets towards free sale again.

The Club has been in a pickle with its pricing for some time now. I believe that this gives them a real opportunity to restate/reframe.
I hope they get it right/as best it can be with long term loyalty continuing to be rewarded, but new fans not milked/exploited by obscene match day pricing. A new balance, a happier balance with less resentment all round and more revenue ultimately longer term for the Club.

Just tried logging in to renew, says I have no subscriptions to renew, What a surprise!
Are you a gold card holder?

If not, then you that is probably why you can't renew at the moment. They've suspended all ticket sales - other than gold card holders.

Is it going to be possible to subscribe to get the games online only? I live in London, so I only get to away games, but I'd love to watch all the games online or on TV.

Why don't the club just allow all season ticket holders in?
Have we ever had 30k season ticket holders?
Would make track and trace easy peasy.
No away fans.
Makes home advantage more prominent.

To use zaphod as an example, he only goes to away games because he lives in London. I am a season ticket holder and live in the NE so can only go to home games as away games are ruled out because of other commitments. Are you suggesting that zaphod should be a greater priority for the opportunity to renew than I am?

In the interests of transparency, I have renewed already, I took a gamble not knowing what the situation would be, but that's my choice to gamble or hang fire

I don't know if zaphod has a ST by the way, I'm just using him for illustrative purposes due to the situation he described for himself. Hope you don't mind zaphod!

Would West Ham have had more season ticket sales than they could house before restrictions came in, so they could only do a ballot? As if you have sold more than you can house what else can you do other than a ballot/lottery.
We are the flip of that having only had 6000 tickets sold so where under what the stadium could hold safety so the club went the other way and closed off sales. If they don't reach the max limit after the gold deadline the will go to the next level I am sure till they reach that magic number. Some will miss out but had they renewed the club would have had no option but to do a ballot as they couldn't give everyone a seat safely

I am a gold card holder who hasn't renewed but will do so this week. That said I think a ballot system is the only fair solution. It should be simple enough to run. All the names in the (digital)hat for the first match draw. They are then exempt from second match drawer and so on until all ST holders have seen a match. Then all names in the hat and start again. Whats difficult about that. As we had 15,000 ST holders it would mean you go to one in two games. Actually no need to repeat the ballots. Those going to first game go to third, those going to second go to fourth etc etc. If they make each ballot slightly under capacity it would give some wriggle room to cater for families so they were not split up(or as suggested add bubbles to ballots). The issue would be ensuring social distancing but that is always going to be an issue.
