ST Sales Re-Open to Gold Card Holders

Yes I agree Pog but around 6000 supporters have stumped up the money and paid the club, a lot of whom won’t even have known what division we were going to be in or if they would be allowed to go to the games.

If people read between the lines something like this was always going to happen

Ah so rather than having a clear plan and communicating it to their supporters, it’s their fault as they should have simply “read between the lines”.

They’ll lose thousands of loyal supporters, many permanently.

It was always a gamble, not knowing what we would be buying. Some of us were prepared to take the gamble, some wanted to wait, both perfectly valid standpoints and I don't see why either should be criticised. Some people may miss out, but that was always going to be the case given what we know now and indeed knew (or at least had a good idea) several weeks ago based on projected likely scenarios

By also having a set number planned in advance they should be able to maximise the numbers they can get in the ground with peoples pods etc catered for

I'm not. But you keep making out like people are daft for not knowing what they've bought. If that's the case, why the outrage? Surely the fans who haven't renewed should be relaxing about their rational decision to just wait and see?

I’ve never once said or implied they were daft for renewing.

I do however think it’s daft for anyone to make out they’d be punished by a ballot that allows every season ticket holder the chance to see the team live, when they didn’t know what they were buying in the first place.

No I don't think its punishing anyone if there's a ballot. But it does sound like a massive faff and there'll inevitably be a backlash, rightly or wrongly, from whoever misses out for whatever match.

Not sure in a evolving environment we find ourselves we can be expected to demand a clear plan

There is no precedent for this

Correct, a clear plan cannot be bourne out of mixed and changing govt advice and guidance; that bit needs to be clear and concrete to a degree in order for MFC to deliver a suitably clear plan themselves

Cant wait to get back there to be honest, really looking forward to being there again. Couldnt watch it on TV everyweek.
The bubble thing is for safe distancing obviously and makes sense.

If they just go with what theyve got at the minute and let the other Gold Card Holders see if they want to go or not.
Im sure after this coming season is over they will have the vaacine and they can hold and honour the EB deals for the ones that miss this coming season and they will be back.

I think it was a matter of first come first served for the other ST that nipped in before longer serving ones.

I thought if you held a season ticket for 20 years or more without a break you became Gold.

Most on here went to Ayresome so I would have thought had the chance to be a Gold Season Ticket holder, for most people (I agree not all) its about where you put your financial priorities. I did not have much money in the 1970 and 1980s, but still put a bit aside for Boro games opposed to say expensive trainers and clothes or stayed in rather than spend the equivalent of £100 on a night out or £1000 on a holiday at the most expensive time of the year. Even in the Riverside years it costs me £100 a game with travel for a home game. I could go on a nice cruise every year for the money I spend on following the Boro. I don't want a medal, but I think I deserve a bit of priority. Maybe the club could allow one child/youngperson to buy per Gold card holder to get over their lack of age.

I’m one of the 1500 gold cards who haven’t renewed yet, I’m also 39 so not worried about shielding, issue is I sit in the east with my young son, will be interesting to see what happens when I go to renew tomorrow as I can’t sit in the GRFZ without an u11 but can’t renew his ticket to sit in there with me as he is obviously not a gold card holder, bit chicken and egg really!

Similar situation with my nephew. The concession is 'attached' to our season card isnt it? Would we even be sat in the East Stand next season, im guessing there wont even be a GRFZ zone next season (or away end)

I'm guessing we dont get a say in where we'll be sitting next season either if they put me on row 1 (sit on row 28) i'd not be a happy chappy

When they froze SC's at 6k, I posted as a suggestion exactly what they have just done. I did so as a Gold Season Card Holder who had not renewed.
I said then that if there were no more than 6k allowed in for however many games then I would accept that, as I hadn't stumped up my cash and those who had deserve first dibs.

The practicalities of dealing with a potentially variable capacity across much of the season presents unprecedented problems.
Offering some priority for Gold Card holders is in my opinion absolutely fair.

As the capacity of each game is known they will be able to make arrangements to sell the balance they have and be clear about where. They have chance to manage this and respond if capacity is allowed to increase a little later.
IMHO they should go to the next longest standing block of SC holders and offer them the excess tickets at SC rate per match. And progress from there through the SC base.
I genuinely believe that this can be a real opportunity for the Club to reset their pricing approach for the future, communicate clearly and make fans feel good about how it has been done.
Pog's ballot solution is such a practical absurdity and he'd only find something else to moan about anyway; or others would. The club really can't satisfy everyone and they haven't created this issue.

I think the Club deserve real credit. It would have been much easier for them to simply carry on selling SC's to a new deadline, take lots of money that they would dearly love to take right now and just sit on it.
They haven't done that. They've taken the lower revenue option and have communicated pretty damned well.

The Club will give credit owed from last season if wanted and I'm sure will make SC EB prices available to SC holders when they are in a position to honour a full season sale, with out the risk a further credit fiasco.
Hats off to them on this occasion.

Yet in the absence of a clear plan, those geniuses over at Derby County managed to put out a clear and reassuring statement to their fans.

“As club officials continue to liaise with the appropriate authorities regarding logistics for next season, the Rams have decided to temporarily suspend 2020/21 Season Ticket sales from noon tomorrow (Tuesday 21st July 2020).

Season ticket holders should be reassured that irrespective of whether they’ve already renewed or were awaiting further information on potential plans for next season before renewing, their current seat will be reserved, and at Period 1 Pricing, until the club receives clarification as to what stadium operational readjustments will be required to allow supporters to attend matches next season.

In such unprecedented times, Derby County sincerely thanks those who have already committed to purchasing a 2020/21 Season Ticket, and for all supporters continued understanding and patience.”

All your suggestion does is keep the gold card holders happy (of which shock horror, you are one) whilst locking the door on younger fans through no fault of their own because they happen to be younger.

Would West Ham have had more season ticket sales than they could house before restrictions came in, so they could only do a ballot? As if you have sold more than you can house what else can you do other than a ballot/lottery.
We are the flip of that having only had 6000 tickets sold so where under what the stadium could hold safety so the club went the other way and closed off sales. If they don't reach the max limit after the gold deadline the will go to the next level I am sure till they reach that magic number. Some will miss out but had they renewed the club would have had no option but to do a ballot as they couldn't give everyone a seat safely

Clear? I don’t know what their plans are for Fans next season

Evidence of one club doing doesn’t mean it isn’t a admin nightmare. Maybe West Ham have the luxury and spending premier league money on it

Haha I was waiting for the money excuse.

I’m sure it costs Premier League money for a ticketing system to allocate groups of people a block of seats away from another group:rolleyes:
