So, if RF down tools , then what ?

I just don't think some people like the fact that they get special treatment from the club despite the fact they go over and above the average fan to support the team via their tifos and cheerleading.

Have I missed something ?
back to zero atmosphere ?, they may b***r up , but the N stand i sit i now bears zero resemblence to what it was once , they create it now in the S Stand , times change , slag em off at yer peril

They may get some things wrong , but by god it would be silent without them , because the N stand is so silent

Well, membership is a bit of a grey area isn't it? Lets say I was totally fine with RF getting special treatment, and I myself wanted to bring a flare. Can I officially join RF and set one off from my seat in the family zone, or is it only fair game if I go and sit in the South Stand, whether or not I'm an official member? There could be flares all over the stadium eventually, which isn't going to be everyone's cup of tea. Or are we gonna say the South Stand is the 'flare section' now?

Just seems like a very blurred process which I can understand would be very difficult for the club to manage. I don't really understand what else RF could get special treatment about, and I didn't even know the club DID give them special treatment, or why they especially want it? I honestly just thought they were really a group of fans who sat together and made the occasional banner.

Flares haven't really been a factor until now. I mean, the odd flare doesn't especially bother me in isolation, but I can see how its a problem for the club to manage if they just start letting it happen. If RF spat their dummy out about the inevitable punishment, I wouldn't be signing petitions or whatever, I think there are bigger things to worry about from a personal perspective. The club's hands are tied, whether they want to give RF 'special' treatment or not.

I think there needs to be some perspective re RF.
They originally helped create atmosphere at a time of low crowds, poor football and disconnect with club and crowd.
They are a small part of the noise now, not the be all and end all. I just think they take themselves a bit too seriously. Life and the atmosphere at our stadium will go on without them.
They don’t generate the noise away from home which is good.
I’m not for banning passionate fans, but I am for dealing with daft lads who’ve got a bit too big for their boots and think they are special.

I have had absolutely no problem with red faction, quite he contrary. I think their noise and displays have generally been great. That support stops when they condone illegal activity that puts others at real risk. That is a line. Nobody has that right, I don't care who you are or what you've done.

Where have RF said they're downing tools? They've not.

Also people getting pissy about 1 flare?!

There's probably been about 10 occasions of pyro in the Riverside and more away from home and this is the only one that's generated this much chatter.

As I said on the stupid other thread, Anthony Vickers book in the mfc shop literally has on the front page pyro against the mackems behind the middlesbrough banner. IT'S LITERALLY ON SALE IN THE CLUB SHOP. They are using pyro displays to sell a book..

This board and twitter are such a micro-cosm of the actual fan base and people whip themselves up into believing its the full fan base. It's not, the majority probably don't have a clue about this place.

They aren’t a ‘small part’ of the atmosphere are they. Let’s not be daft.

Like I said earlier, what about all the people that stand?

The thing is, most people stand out of necessity because everyone else is standing. It doesn’t bother me (though it does bother some folk for obvious reasons) but literally everyone does it in the end, you can’t ban everyone. If everyone had to bring their own flare, whether they liked it or not, and set it off, that would also become de facto acceptable (though it would be a lot more dangerous - 30,000 flares flying around).

free pint - what you say about how the board whips itself up about things is usually the truth. But from what I am witnessing a lot of people outside the board are talking about it. And it is not me initiating discussions either. Because it was such a big day for Red Faction all eyes were on the stand. They had not expected to see that flare coming from the middle of your group.

It's not even a club decision is it? I thought bringing flares into the ground was illegal, so how can they approve it?
The question is what they will do about yesterday's flare and how will RF react?
I hope both are balanced.

I'm not a member, so please watch yourself.

Also what about the book on sale in the club shop?

If RF strike, me n me mate in south west upper will learn some of the songs and start the singing up there.. 😂
It is lively in the south west upper.

Chants of have you ever seen a Geordie punch a horse to Andy Carroll when we played reading.

Now and again retro chants of hit on the head with a baseball bat and Peter Reid had a monkeys head are belted out…

I get the thing about the book, but does this trump the “no flares” signs and the law?

I dare say they should stop selling AV’s book then, now it’s been pointed out. I doubt he’ll thank RF for this though!

I dont think they should, it's just pure double standard.
