So, if RF down tools , then what ?

Is it just me that reads that "FANS NOT - HOOLIGANS" banner as "we're not fans, we are hooligans"? :ROFLMAO:
Its probably you.
It was spelt like that to highlight what had been allegedly said by the club and local media.
Leave the spelling mistake to the Geordies:love:

Lots of people with chips on their shoulders over the red faction. I'd be interested to know why that is.
I don't see that, I just see people thinking that they did a stupid thing and see themselves as a special case and above the rules. They're not.

What I see is a supporters group who have a chip on their shoulder with the club not giving them special status.

Yep, I think there's truth in this. It sort of feels like the rest of the fanbase is supposed to be thankful for them too. I don't really care either way, personally. If they wanna sit together and sing and make banners, great and good luck to em. If they don't - I'll live!

Just as we ask for the club to come out and give statements.. so should red faction.. what to they do what do they want to do.. why they do stuff.. what is there purpose.

original red faction looked class.. I hope the new lot are continuing in the same sort of way

If it's important issues that the club aren't listening to.. then maybe they have a point.. lets not forget where they were born out of and what led to their creation.

They've dropped a major clanger and upset a lot of fans and the club will probably receive a fine. I believe Red Faction should pay that fine as a gesture of goodwill to the club on the promise a stunt like that wont be pulled again.

As for people saying 'get rid' The Riverside was a depressing place to go for years, a lot of that was due to the decline of the club and dire football but also because of the atmosphere. You could often hear the players shouting between themselves, embarrassing. Red Faction changed this and nobody can deny that and there is a very good chance that if Red Faction decided not to go to a game say, the atmosphere would be remarkedly worse. I do believe their creation of new chants should be fed to other parts of the stands, have print outs with the words and tune up in the concourses and toilets around the ground.

I sit in the blocks behind them and often we start chants and are not linked to, or know any of Red Faction. Its easy to start chants in a small group you just have to stick with it and hopefully others will join. When the team are struggling it is often Red Factions persistence with the drum and chants what gets the crowd going again which potentially wouldn't happen if they weren't there.

I believe they're massively in the wrong and have ruined the trust built up with the club over the use of a flare but I do hope the club work with them to find out who it was and punish accordingly. Similar to another thread I do believe lifetime bans are very harsh, even in the instance of somebody bringing a flare into the ground. A degree of hindsight should be used in that nobody was hurt and wasn't done in a malicious manner, same as the pitch invader. Lifetime bans should be for hooligans, drugs etc, not over-zealous celebrations and yes I know rules are rules and if they do receive lifetime bans then they will have to live with their actions and they only have themselves to blame, I just think that each case should be reviewed rather than a blanket punishment.

I'm sure they do have 'a point' when it comes to why they started up etc. But it doesn't and shouldn't mean they can just set flares off in the ground if no one else can (and I certainly don't think we should all be allowed to).

I think its a little more complex than that tbh

red faction are fans.. they are on our side. folks are far too quick to criticise on here. some of the responses on here have been terrible.. when that daft kid jumped the barrier.. we should be all caged in and subject to a thorough police search.. crazy stuff.

we should not be dictated to in regards to how we should support our club our identity should not be controlled by the bottom line.

do you remember the sit down and shut up letters? refrain from sing and shouting and remain seated during goal celebrations. utter madness. the club should be looking to accommodate fan groups... very much so.

When it comes specifically down to the health and safety of others, yes, they should be absolutely dictated to.

The clubs statement today says its a 3 year ban for a pyro offence. There is also a prosecution from the police waiting, that is out of their hands though.

The atmosphere would absolutely be worse without them but probably not by as much as they think. It seems like a lot of fans in the South stand wait for them to start songs as 99% of the time you hear a few lone voices starting something, the drum kicks in and Red Faction lead everyone in a different song. If they weren’t there, these other songs would catch on and spread. It wouldn’t be totally dead.

But as I say, I'm all in support of fan groups as long as they're not fighting etc, but its inconceivable that the club would be able to just 'accommodate' flares in the stadium when they are banned up and down the country. So fan groups, whoever they are, probably shouldn't look to push it that far and put the club in the position of having to ban people. If the club don't take action they're effectively saying 'ok, you can all bring as many flares as you want from now on' - imagine that!

I may be in the minority but I generally just want an easy life when I go to the match. I can't imagine a scenario where I'd think setting off a flare and breaking a pretty hard and fast rule like that would improve my day enough to risk a ban. I know the pricing strategy and ticketing system is all questionable but I've never felt so victimised by the club that I want to annoy them especially. The whole 'oh it looks class' thing is kids' stuff, in my opinion, like when you see them with hankies over their faces and what not.
