So, if RF down tools , then what ?

If RF down tools, I think the club would probably fold unfortunately
haha, 3,000 fans in that part of the ground are not going to stop going or sit in silence purely because someone they barely know gets a ban. ...3,000 fans not attending just puts us back where we were 3 years ago numbers-wise anyway

Weirdly loads of other clubs manage to have atmospheres without red faction, strange as it may seem.
That we know of. I am pretty apathetic about Red Faction tbh but I can’t help but feel that it is really sticking in some of their craws that no one other than the majority of the Riverside faithful even knows of their existence, hence why we get flares and what not on their 15th “birthday”. Hardly like they’re “known throughout Europe” 😂.

I should add that I have no issue with them generally but flares are daft, and so is footy violence. If they ever do either I won’t support it.

Red Faction have been great; they have improved the atmosphere and, at times, made some socially responsible comments. At others (the Newcastle takeover banner for example), they've let petty football rivalries tarnish that.

I think initially they were regarded as wannabee hoolies. By and large, they've disproved this. However, if being an ultra begins at doing things the club doesn't want you to do, e.g. fireworks, I can live without it, and so can the club.

A good atmosphere is not so important to me that I wouldn't sacrifice it to get rid of stuff like fireworks. 95% of the matchday experience is on the pitch. RF should be careful not to flatter themselves that they're that important to most fans matchday experience, or they'll lose the support of many fans.

I'll add a couple of questions for any representative of RF, and I hope they'll be answered in the sincere spirit in which they are intended.

1. Is pyro so key and important to what you want to create as a group that you couldn't abandon it without withdrawing your support?
2. Would you prefer to have the rest of the fans on your side and agree you're making a good contribution without pyro, than split the support and having a sizable section hostile to what you do by having pyro?

Are Red Faction really as self righteous as this thread makes out? Any links to anything I can be a nosy git at?

They’re not just “known” throughout Europe, they’re FEARED
If we ever got into Europe again and drew say, Dinamo Zagreb
Bad blue boys: What have you got
Red Faction: We’ve got a banner and fireworks from a shop off Newport Road. FEAR US!!!!

Lots of people with chips on their shoulders over the red faction. I'd be interested to know why that is.

Seems to me its predominantly focussed on their seeming to condone bringing in banned pyrotechnics into a crowd and putting others at risk.

That's the start and the end of my issue with them. I started being annoyed at the actions of an individual, but they are hardly doing themselves a lot of favours by seemingly doubling down.

They started of well but now seem to live in some sort of bubble where they saved the club and no one is allowed to criticise them. If you remember a few years ago they went on strike because someone got banned lasted about 2 weeks

If they do down tools (whatever that is supposed to mean), then I am willing to start up a new group.

Anyone want to join The Faction Red?

Its a shame the RF can't create the sort of atmospheres we had at Ayresome or in the early days of the Riverside, when there was no need for a drummer, pyrotechnics or matching hoodies.

If you look at videos of Boro fans that travel away from a home fans perspective they are all grown men wearing stone island jackets and in massive groups...not so low level. I used to travel loads with the Boro in the late 80s and 90s and hardly ever saw a problem...don't think I'd want to take my kids away from home now.
You've got less chance of seeing bother now than back then, surely?

We had fun,
We had Sunlun on the run,
But the joy didnt last,
Cus the *******d ran too fast!
