Yes Dawkins has a scale and whilst he’s towards the atheistic end of it, he still can’t be certain so describes himself as an agnostic atheist, if I recall correctly. I think we’re all agnostic to some degree as very few of us claim to know with utter confidence whether religious or not.

I think your description is very close to how I have heard Dawkins describe himself.
Pretty sure he’s talked about it in interviews, but there’s also a section in ‘The God Delusion’ where he describes the scale, I just can’t remember the full details.

I stated that I am a Catholic, but that is an accident of birth, if I was born in India I would likely be Hindu.
I believe in a creator the rest is a history novel.

I don't understand why we have childhood leukaemia and I don't know what happened before the big bang. Going forward even that might be disproved.
Why would a creator wait over 13.5 billion years for life to understand religion I have no Idea.
But my Sunday morning for one hour at church is no different to me as my 1 1/2 hours watching leather occasionally going through some metal posts.

If there was a creator what makes you think it intended humanity to evolve and why would it wish to be worshiped through religion?
My view is religion is a human construct possibly resulting from a bicameral brain - see J Jaynes.

I have a couple of his books, god delusion and, the blind watchmaker. They make for interesting reading. In one of them, and I don't remember which, he built a computerized flower shown on a screen that evolved as bees buzzed the screen and the computerized flower evolved in much the same way as we see flowers today.
It was a long time ago, but I think it was Dawkins.
In interviews he always comes across as a smug git, but he does produce some very persuasive arguments against religion, and particularly religous texts. In, the God Delusion, I believe, he admits he has failed to come up with an argument for religion from an evolutionary sense, which millbrook addressess, to an extent, in his post around the bicamerral brain.
In any event it's a fascinating subject, mainly because we just don't know.

I am reading a book now, it has pictures and everything, my wife is reading the big words for me. It's about a zoo. Zebras, elefants, gerafes even lions. I said to my wife zebras are the same colors as the things we cross the road. It made her day, and Newcastle United are the same, me mam said thats because they can't affords a color telly licences. . Where dead proud of the oldest he wears shoes with laces, the first in the family and he is only 34. The youngest was given a calclater, it has red beans at the top and blue on the bottom loads of colors between, so it helps with his countin and his colors. You will be on youre 4 times table and won't need it.

That must be one of those words I don't understand. I think brainy lads like you are so clever. Does it hurt when you have a big brain?
