Renewal Announcement - 30th March Deadline

The club are not blaming anybody.

They are just saying what is going on in the world.

Staff wages up, Energy costs up, Business rates up, insurance up, costs such as maintains the pitch and training ground up.

There are probably other cost increases as well.

When the club produced those figures they stated that the total season ticket revenue only covered the cost of running the stadium etc.

That is the harsh reality of the situation.

Personally I pay £620 for season ticket £26.95 a match for a very good seat, I get a free pint that I can take or leave and priority points for away games.

For other people I thing the walk up prices are too expensive but season ticket prices including the children’s prices are reasonable.

Like others have said - quick to send us all a short cold unappreciative email with price increase and crazy deadline but not a follow up to say sorry we didn’t think this through properly.
Many folk don’t automatically check the MFC website or even more hard to understand are not on FMTTM so why didn’t a group email go out? Really poor customer service from a club that increasingly don’t seem to care

The story has gone to the Gazette and Echo now - so it is moving around. I imagine that an email will go out telling people of the new deadline. As there will be follow ups as the deadline approaches etc,

The club normally claims its consultation is through the fans forum? Is that the case with such as this?

Direct communication on Monday. - third party communication on Tuesday? They are starting to look like they couldn’t organise a **** up in a brewery or even a Labour candidate in Rotherham to me!

The difference between early bird prices and a new season ticket is massive.
Would it bother any season ticket holders on here if the club just said it was the same price with say £10 extra admin charge ?
Could help get a lot more ST holders if people didn't feel they were being ripped off.
Surely ST holders would rather see the club get more ST holders than have some feeling they are being rewarded for loyalty. They will still be paying the same.
If I'm being honest, if they made the renewal price and the price for new buyers the same, it probably would make me consider not renewing at some point.

A big reason why I continue to renew is because I don't want to be stung further down the line, having to pay more as a new buyer. I guess you could say it's evidence that the club's strategy for nailing down renewals long-term is effective.

I wouldn't feel resentful though if the club did decide to make the price for renewals and new buyers the same, I'm not a superfan, so why should I expect to be rewarded for "loyalty", but like I say, it would make me feel less pressurised to renew. It will be different for many other fans though, who won't have the same attitude.

It’s a small increase - it’s the way the world is for almost everything i.e. inflation - the club is no different. It’s the PR that hacks me off. Just do some interviews again Gibson man and reconnect with the fans

Gibson is notorious for not giving interviews, even during the good times he rarely communicated with the fans.

I agree it probably would be a good idea for him at this time to come out and speak publicly regarding the ticket prices, but there would be fans who would still criticise him regardless, even if he was able to put forward a sensible argument and rationale for the high pricing.

Wonder how Coventry, Hull, Ipswich, Preston etc manage it....
They don’t. No club without parachute payments has secured automatic promotion since Leeds United four years ago and no one looking at the way Ipswich are dropping suspect that’s not going to become five. I think there’s only been a couple of others since we managed it.

The best that is up for grabs for the rest is a puncher’s chance in the playoffs. And even then you are up against teams with parachute money. You need every edge. Since our relegation from the Premier League last time, we have basically been competitive for the playoffs every year, but the Woodgate year. That’s not bad going. It’s not great, but it’s better than most.

He needs to do one - it’s been a long time since his last. Eight years ?

Yeah and look at the ridiculous backlash he received due to his "want to smash the league" comment.

It was pretty obvious that he was trying to say that he wanted the club to have a really good go at going straight back up to the Premier League, yet it was used as a stick to beat him with when things turned sour.

Can ram the season ticket, no ambition and not paying hundreds to freeze my ass off again watching the current dross for another season as for the price increase I'd rather pay sky

It’s pretty obvious what he’s saying this time an all..

It’s more than a small increase…. It’s more than double the rate of inflation

I guess there's no reason for him to do an interview then, if fans have already decided they know what his intentions are.
Some fans have already decided not to renew.. no reason to do an interview or bother his asre at all. Wack up the ticket prices.. bring forward the renewal deadline.. job done.

Having a quick google doesn't look like many other clubs are asking fans for their cash yet.

The only other club i can see doing it is Sheff Wed who have frozen their prices based on last year's final price
