Payero

Not on the bench or not in the squad ? injured physically or mentally not up for it "home sick" What ever the cause he is not a champo squad winner.

Well you've just completely made that "mentally not up for it, homesick" thing up haven't you? No reports anywhere suggesting he was left out of any squad for that reason.

Please convince me he is worth a first team place in the squad next season. I wanted him to be a star but so far he has been a a total waste of skin.

I do feel for the lad. Bought by the club seemingly unfancied by the 2 managers he has played under and travelled ? 5000 miles across the atlantic. Just when he may be given a chance he gets covid, then gets injured v QPR. As I see it he is fighting it out with Crooks, whose game dropped off in the last couple of months of the season. There is a chance he could break through but as Wilder said last year, he doesn’t keep his best players on the bench. Big pre season for him.

There was certainly reports he was home sick. He certainly went back home on one or two occasions.
There were rumours on here and social media. Nothing really from mainstream media or the club. And being homesick doesn't mean someone isn't up for it. Merson was homesick when he was here.

He's not been a total waste of skin has he? He's certainly struggled but he's had his moments. Watch him v Cardiff and tell me there's not potentially a very good player there. Can he do it consistently and does Wilder feel he fits into the system? Lots of question marks, but he's shown more flashes of quality than some are willing to give him credit for.

Across a full season what impact did he have ? OH Cardiff. Well that fine. Let's spend a wad of money on him.

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. The money has gone, he's our player. He had a disappointing season for whatever reason, be it settling in to a new country, injuries, homesickness, just not being good enough, any or all of those.
So now do we see if there potentially is a good player there, like we saw in flashes particularly the Cardiff game, or do we sack it off and lose all hope of recouping anything? Most people prefer the former, you prefer the latter.

Just facts, not been a d*ckhead like you. There is is no point in any further debate when the facts show he needed to go home to sort issues out. He is not and never will be a champo player.
You’re a piece of work.

Looks injury prone ! how many game starts did he miss through injury ???? Seemed most of the season.
Remember Van Nistelrooy in 2000?

He seemed injury prone, knackered his knee and was out for a year.

Scored 95 prem goals in 150 appearances.. 150 goals in 219 appearances in total.

Payero does look like he’s cut from a different cloth, I liked his aggression and his drive to get up to speed. Young lad in a completely different environment, covid and injuries have scuppered his first season.

I see a possible future captain, shades of Ruben Neves
