Panthers Skater: Adam Johnson Vigil on Saturday 5.30pm at National Ice Centre

Players who witnessed it on both teams have said it wasn't deliberate. The players skate got clipped and sent him up akwardly, all the conspiracy theories and suggestions this was dekiberate are disrespectful. Listen to the players who where there and know how these things happen, instead of playing detective with only some grainy video from one angle to make snap judgements.

I'm not going to pretend to know the law, but you would imagine there is a higher level of 'responsibility' for anyone who is classed as a professional at something, especially an activity that involves a blade.

I would imagine the police will be considering the fact the players are highly trained etc and understand the dangers involved, and the importance of the blades staying on the ice.

A moment of 'recklessness' therefore shouldnt be an excuse, all the players understand the risks involved if you lift your boot off the ice.

It must be an absolute minefield though!

And I must say I have some sympathy for the arrested player, he will be in a dark place at the moment.

It’s not conspiracy theories though is it? Even the police think that there are questions that need answering. I haven’t read anything on this thread that has disrespected Adam Johnson.

Surely the police will have interviewed all of the players yet still have been able to take a case to the CPS? I'm not sure if he has been charged but that will be down to CPS won't it?

I don't think anyone is playing detective from what I've read on here, just saying what they see.

I've not watched the footage and won't ever.

The police have to investigate, they have a duty, but I would take the word over professionals who witnessed it over any internet police spreading theories of how or what happened based on grainy footage.

I just don’t think it is out of order or disrespectful discussing what happened. When a guy dies in a horror tackle, people are going to talk about it.

Clear footage has emerged showing the Steelers player, Matt Petgrave doing a flying drop-kick at Johnson, where he made contact with Adams neck which lead to his death.
I disagree with that, there is a clash between MP and another player (who is legitimately shielding AJ) as MP comes out of that contact, his left leg raises up. Its not clear whether that is involuntary or deliberate, an attempt to regain balance or an intention to cushion his own impact or an intention hurt AJ. It definitely isn't a flying drop kick.

I suggest you watch it again.
I wont post it on here.

Its not a "grainy video".
Go and read the professional sites and the professional bodies and stop using this childish "conspiracy theory" label.
Adam died. Its a serious issue.

As far as Im aware, non of our Panthers have expressed any such opinion.
Source?
The only "opinion" from Panthers players has been remorse and grief from Jordan Kelsal, Ollie Betteridge, Josh Tetlow, et al.

A man arrested on suspicion of manslaughter in connection with the death of Nottingham Panthers ice hockey star Adam Johnson has been released on bail. Detectives confirmed the man was released on Wednesday morning.

Johnson, 29, died after suffering a fatal cut to his neck during a game between the Panthers and Sheffield Steelers on Saturday, October 28. A man was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter by South Yorkshire Police on Tuesday, November 14.

But the force confirmed he was released on Wednesday, November 15. Johnson’s death has led to a huge outpouring of grief across the ice hockey community. Hundreds of floral tributes have been left outside both the Utilita Arena in Sheffield - where the tragedy happened - and the Motorpoint Arena - the home of the Panthers.

A spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Police confirmed the suspect has been bailed. Johnson came to Nottingham from the United States.

He played 13 games in the National Hockey League (NHL) - considered the best league in ice hockey. He also played in Germany and Sweden.

A memorial game is due to be held in his memory at the Motorpoint Arena on Saturday, November 18. Nottingham Panthers are due to take on Manchester Storm, with a 7pm face off.

I am certainly not going to watch the video. Was there any aggro (apart from the usual Ice Hockey stuff) between the two before the incident took place?

No.

Im not going to disagree with anyone on here any further as a matter of respect for Adam and the hockey family. Its a tight fit community because its a "minority sport" in UK and everyone knows someone....blah, blah. You know what I mean. I hope the memorial shirts are available on Saturday to collect, but I thousands have been ordered. I still dont want to believe it. The memory that will last for me is seeing him with two crucial assistrs in our 4-2 win at home against Fife Flyers. It was his last game at home before the tragedy. I hope the players start to lift up and get on with it in his memory. Panthers had just hit top of the EIHL - alongside fierce rivals Sheffield Steelers, so I hope that momentum carries on. Lets Go Panthers! (y)
