Follow the link to watch the shirt clip:
The whole team were together. In front of them are the flowers, tributes, scarves, candles, signed hockey sticks and blades.....

Rick Strachan is on the Right - hes been at Panthers as Assistant Coach for many years. Jordan Kelsall is centre - a local lad [Black hoodie] as is Ollie Betteridge [with the cap] next to him. The guys were crying and Kevin Moore was so brave to hold it together.

'Following Johnson's death, National Ice Hockey League team Oxford City Stars - which have former Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech on their roster - announced their players must wear neck guards at all times on the ice.'

What? Petr Cech????
Yep.
Same guy

OK I've just seen a 3 second summary clip of the incident...not the aftermath
That player did that deliberately/ recklessly
He deliberately raised his skate into the neck area of rhe poor lad.
I know police are investigating
In my opinion that player has assaulted him.
He clearly wouldn't have forseen the outcome..but the action of raising you leg state first that high into the neck head area is reckless if not intentional
I have a feeling he may be getting charged after a cps lawyer reviews that
I'm pretty shocked to be honest
I know ice hockey is a tough sport but that isn't sport what he did.

I agree. It is hard to come to any other conclusion. I wouldn’t even say it was premeditated. It just looked like a reactionary kick out like you often see in football. The difference being there are blades on the bottom of his feet.

FUNDRAISING IN ADAM'S MEMORY Top Image

DONATE TO THE OFFICIAL ADAM JOHNSON GOFUNDME PAGE HERE

As we all come to terms with the tragic passing of Adam Johnson, our number 47, we would once again like to thank everyone who has sent kind messages of love and support for Adam’s family and loved ones, his teammates, and everyone associated with The Nottingham Panthers and the Elite League.

With the blessing of Adam’s family, The Nottingham Panthers have created an official GoFundMe fundraising page to raise money for the "Love for Hibbing and Hockey Memorial Fund" established in Adam's memory.

The purpose of this fund is to support local charitable activities in Adam’s hometown area of Hibbing, Minnesota, as selected by the Johnson Family.

We would like to thank Laura, who started their own fundraiser earlier this week, for their support in consolidating all donations into a single fund which have now been transferred to this fundraiser. We would also like to thank everyone who has donated so far.

The club is in contact with Adam’s family and will work with the GoFundMe team to transfer the funds to them in due course when they’re ready. Your support means the world to us.

AJ47 MEMORIAL JERSEY Top Image
Following the sad passing of our #47, Adam Johnson, The Nottingham Panthers have created a memorial jersey to honour our friend and teammate.

Replicas of the AJ47 Memorial Jersey are available to buy via the club’s online shop now. They will also be available to purchase in person from the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham soon (date to be confirmed but we hope from Monday 13th November).

The AJ47 Memorial Jerseys will be priced at £47 (all sizes), and all profits from the sale of the jerseys will be donated to the official GoFundMe page set up by The Nottingham Panthers in Adam’s memory.

The replica jerseys will only be available with the number 47 and the name Johnson. The sizing of the jerseys will match our normal 2023-24 replicas. If purchasing via our online shop, please consult the sizing guide available on the product page.

We would like to extend our immense gratitude to Rhino Sports and Ice Locker for their support in making these jerseys available as a way that we can raise funds in Adam's memory.

UPDATE (02/11/2023 at 18:00): We understand that a lot of fans have ordered Adam Johnson jerseys in the days since his passing. We will be donating the profits from any order of a #47 Adam Johnson 2023-24 home, away, or alternate replica jersey placed since Sunday 29th October to the official GoFundMe page.

Reckless is not manslaughter.

If reckless in sport is grounds for criminal charges then no one would set foot on a footy pitch
Au contraire rodernee.....au contraiiiire...

Recklessness with a blade is entirely different.

When you put a blade up to someone's throat in sport or in life you must be prepared to face the consequences in a court of law

In my opinion he didn't set out to kill him obviously

But his intention WAS formed to injure when he raised his bladed foot into the neck area of that poor lad ..

Just my opinion....

It doesn't affect other sports apart from those involving blades and maybe dominoes.

A bad tackle...a crunching tackle ...Will not kill your opponent

The spearing tackle was outlawed in rugby as this could in fact cause death and was rightly banned.

Ice hockey is an aggressive sport but this will be an interesting trial if it gets there and I think they've already had CPS have a look at the footage and give some early charging advice

his actions are inexcusable and in my opinion criminal

Adam Johnson: Manslaughter arrest over ice hockey player's death

Glad you posted that Norman. Clear footage has emerged showing the Steelers player, Matt Petgrave doing a flying drop-kick at Johnson, where he made contact with Adams neck which lead to his death. There is clear intent to "hurt" johnson which maybe the point which has lead to the Manslaughter charge [?]. The incident is online, but its too gruesome to watch .Whats ironic is the Sheffield Steelers had a game at home on Sunday and applauded Petgrave and Johnson [?!] at the beginning of the match.

I suspect the authorities have sufficient evidence and testimoney to argue for Manslaughter on the part of Petrgrave. I know at the moment Petgrave has only been arrested on "suspicion" of Manslaughter. According to Reuters latest he remains in custody [https://www.reuters.com/world/uk/ma...-after-uk-ice-hockey-player-death-2023-11-14/]

Panthers havent played a game since his terrible death on the ice in Sheffield, but have a memorial game at the National Ice Centre on Saturday. They have also pulled out of this seasons Challenge Cup [the competition game in which Adam died]. At last count, over 3000+ commemorative shirts [Panthers Black n Gold with 47 "Johnson" printed on them] have been ordered by fans. There isnt a seat left in the Arena, which holds 8000+. Its going to feel strange to say the least.

We all feel for his fiance and family over in Minnesota, who are just watching and waiting to see what happens.
