Next Fans Forum - Monday Oct 20th

Rob - on the agenda was kit stock levels in the retail shop, however I cannot see anything in the minutes to show this was discussed?

Are these the correct minutes?
Must have run out of time. Not everyone could stay for the whole meeting so we were trying to get through items quickly while there were still a few of us present.

There was a lot of ground covered and items that were deemed important on here last week.

Rob, I don't want this to seem unkind and I know other than the club representatives that everyone is giving their time for free - but doesn't this once again bring into question who is sitting on the panel - if people can't attend the whole meeting then should their spot not go to someone who can?

It also means the agenda is largely pointless as items on there are just missed.

Surely if someone is actioned to do something for the next meeting , they send a deputy or a message on what they have done. Particularly applies to reps of MFC.

There must be hundreds of sensible Boro fans who want to attend, and will do it for free. Getting a good cross section in fact is important - all genders. all ethnic backgrounds, orientation, all ages, Teesside based non Teesside based, season ticket and non season ticket.

Ref Membership scheme - I must have brought it 10 times in the last 4 years on here, but obviously when someone on the Forum takes ownership of it, the Club have at least to consider it. I believe Rob did formally ask about its re introduction through his place on the Forum, after MFC closed down Boro Pride in 2015?

The digital ticketing fiasco in July showed the Club are not using and respecting the Forum as much as they should. Or the Forum is not representative enough of all Boro fans. I tend to think more of the former than the latter.

Both our sons cannot make midweek games, they live in Manchester and Newcastle respectively, so we are issued with paper tickets to attend. We are long standing members and have always had the free drink offer, but they cannot be redeemed with the transferred paper tickets that are issued. This robs us of that benefit, so can the club sort this free drink situation which was never a problem with cards etc, prior to this season?

Interesting one - Technically (terms and conditions) the Season Ticket Card is non transfereable although Rob Nichols has been told it can be transferred to family and friends. Which MFC has done in your example.

The Chairman's drink could be argued is on top of the season ticket (evidence some ST holders don't have it, for example) is that also transferrable is the question?

Grey areas for both in legal terms - MFC need to put in writing what is the correct position. (could be affected what is technically possible for example can a paper ticket be scanned at a kiosk).

AB - I guess your sons are digital season ticket holders - with a physical card could they have posted them to you.

Perhaps best not put it in writing. Officially the tickets are non transferable. But the club are willing to work with people and help them forward tickets.
The chairman's drink is very much a bonus that Steve Gibson himself wanted to award many of the season ticket holders. Perhaps people should think of it as a bonus rather than a privilege. If that helps.

I brought most of the points to the meeting from this message board - I think I probably forgot the one point about retail.
Membership cards - there was a working party from the fans forum working on the reintroduction of a membership scheme for many months. I wasn't part of it. But was one of many that asked again and again for the re-introduction.
We are hopeful that the membership scheme is the first part of more schemes targeting different groups of fans.
The digital "fiasco" caused a lot of fall-out at the time but for me personally I think you have to know when to let it go.
I am of the camp better to work with than be at loggerheads. I saw the proof with my own eyes last night of the amount of fans, and senior fans using mobile phones in my section of the North Stand for the first time. A lot of people do want this. Others don't and they are now being catered for. Which is a good thing about what happened at the start of the season.

Red, that's correct we moved seats to the East Family Zone this summer as more friends and their children joined the group and the kids wanted to sit together. This area was trialled for the new digitalised access method of entry, whereas previously the hard season cards were posted between the family members. I think that MFC have previously stated that it's within the rules to do this, with family members.

It is going to be different for family zone. Paper tickets issued at ticket office to make sure still family groups and not all adults.

1. Make sponsor less shirts available.. all talk of it being harmful to U18s and addicts seems to have fallen on deaf ears.

2. Change our warm up shirt to something more meaningful i.e by making our anti racist position more visible.

Silly me eh.. defending racists.. being part of the problem.. COUNTLESS times I have brought this up and it’s went absolutely nowhere.

Ask them next week at the shop Q and A - they have trialled the sponsor-less shirt. But am not sure precisely which season - so ask them.
The warm up shirt is a great idea. Although I wonder what percentage of the crowd are actually at their seats for the warm up - but it definitely would help. The visibility of the anti-racism message needs to be massively ramped up.

reactive rather than being pro-active.. I could see this coming a mile off.

cheap, quick and effective.. stick it in the club shop window.. it really isn't that hard.

have a look how many photos have been taking of the absolutely meaningless riversidebyside warm up shity.. it's so poor and shyte that nobody even notices it.. yet it is still promoted and does NOTHING

I will offer some good suggestions next week for the Q and A.. it would be nice to see stuff actually get passed onto the club for a change.

What should be up for discussion?
So far -
Half Season Tickets
Concourse Bars - problems
Someone from another forum has suggested increasing the number of bonuses with season cards ie at Sunderland there is discount in the shop, priority access to SoL concerts etc. Concourse discounts.
Communications between fans and club
Network coverage in stands - especially in regard to how can you report a hate crime without a network.

Open to more ideas

Buy the Beer festival marquee and cover the Fanzone to make it weather proof , with can bars, for speed .
The marquee can hold 1,000 , bringing in more revenue for longer .

Have a smaller version for away fans in the fenced off area , and advertise it each game so the away fans spend at the ground and not in town.

Sell cans not draught at £3 per can , pour into plastic glasses.
( the draught is poor and there's is lots of waste )
This will save time also meaning less queues and selling more .

Half season tickets at £20 more than full ticket equivalent.
( which needs reducing to this seasons price )

Reduce the seniors ticket age to 63 from 65 .

Dad and kid ticket in selected areas buy one get one child ticket for £100 per season.( North and East lower ) and empty blocks like block 17.

Youve got no chance of any of those things happening. Do you know they did away with half season tickets this season because those people would then be entitled to early bird prices potentially hitting income ?

Hey FMTTM admin, can you ask them to buy Chris Woods as one of our strikers next season to fire us into the Prem then organise an off-season tour of Australia and NZ. With so many antipodean players (past and present) I'm sure they'd get big crowds. Can play against Socceroos and All Whites or the top A-League teams in each country (ok only one in NZ and it's the Wellington Phoenix who are five points clear at the top of the A-League).
I know, totally selfish of me wanting to see the Boro down under, but if you don't ask, you don't get.
