Can you make it a priority for next meeting ?
Have a chat earlier and put it to them , to give them a chance to consider the options ?
I can tell you now they will reject it. It would cost them a fortune. There are so many people in that age bracket. I can bring it up - but one of the big problems revenue wise is the very high number of concessions, something we showed several months ago when we displayed the actual breakdown of matchday gate receipts and how the ticket money is carved up. By memory it was only about £12 of an average seat ticket that goes to the club.

if revenue is sucj a big problem.. why do they not seem arsed at all on the retail side of things.. or promoting the club past the TS1 to TS8 postcodes?

Tickets aren't transferrable are they? I'm sure that's within the purchase conditions. To be honest i'm pretty certain, digital ticketing has been brought in to prevent people fiddling the system.
Officially tickets are not transferable but Boro do help make this as easy to do as possible. They are realists and recognise that families and friends etc share tickets.
I have put on the other thread why we went digital and why lots of other clubs did this season.
Basically some of the turnstiles were starting to show their age. The company gave Boro an option to make them digital and so it would be much cheaper to do it now when they needed a system upgrade anyway. Future proofing if you like. That decision was made after about a year of research and working with Man City and other clubs that had already gone digital. By the way I know this now but didn't know it at the time. Anyway, it means the stadium will be much better set up for the next 20 years and it will mean in future that there will be benefits of people not having to print at home or have to wait for the post etc. Also, forwarding online can be potentially a lot easier than waiting on the corner to hand over your season card and then remember to get it back for the next game etc.

The shop made £2m last year. Shirt sales and beer sales are at record levels. I know it seems mad. But what they are doing is controlling stock now and not bringing in surplus amounts but ordering as and when it is needed. Last season everyone was screwed over shirtswise by Brexit (shhh don't mention it) and shortages from China.

I was at a Q and A about shirts and the shop at the Boro Supporters Club 2020 a couple of weeks ago and it was fascinating. Hence my tiny bit of knowledge.

I feel like they miss out on A LOT not just through stock levels either.. poor design, poor choice with the other merch. The sizing's are absolutely insane.

Thanks Rob for the reply.

I had in mind transferring the user of the ticket. not the position in the stadium. So my query is transferring a ticket to a friend say adult to adult for the odd home game. Fans who don't live within 50 miles of the Riverside, often can't get to every home game or ones that work on rigs etc.

Mobile reception - mine is also on the O2 network and it only works slowly in the concourse say 15 minutes or more before kick off.

Did the Club say why they can now serve more customers, with less queues?
I switched to 02 this year because my house is in a black hole for EE despite being in the middle of the town my phone would cut off as I walked up to my front door. But as a network I find the coverage is so much worse than EE, especially in any football ground. Are you talking about transferring with a digital ticket?
You can as I say contact supporter services - 01642 757648 or - supporters@mfc.co.uk and they can transfer your seat for a charity/community user if you cannot make a particular match. That was mentioned last night. But if you add the person to your network you should be able to forward a digital ticket to a mate.
Serve more customers with less queues - they do have the Fan Zone of course and the North Stand bar stays open after games but they are converting 2 or 3 empty concourse units into bars at the moment. I asked recently about extending the concourse outwards into the car park as they did at Derby County - after all we have basically the same stadium. Apparently that proved really expensive and was not a success. Obviously we fell out with Derby a few years back but this is one piece of advice from them that we can take on board.

I probably have a bias view on this given it’s going to be a long time until this would impact me, but there’s absolutely no reason that I can see to lower the concession age.

This is still working age people. Why would ‘older’ fans need rewarding? There is already a hugely above average number of concessions within the stadium that are essentially subsidised by full cost payers.
Bring it in line with Port Vale - 62 - York - 60
As a couple of examples.

Ask the question then please Rob .
Keeping the older fans on board should matter , they have been putting money in for 45 years or more , a nice gesture of upper age to 62 would be reasonable.
And while you’re at it ask for pies and bovril stalls !

To answer your question - it was digital switching I posted about in case I go down the digital route later this season. At present I will need to purchase a new smartphone to use the digital system offered by MFC. I am trying to gather as much info as I can before making a digital decision.

I did forget about fan zone - is it offering the Chairman's drink yet?

It's a lot more than a gesture though.

Over 65s pay 35-40% less than standard adults, reducing that age to 62 would be a substantial loss to the club's coffers and probably covers thousands of matchgoing fans.

Ever considered salads lads?

Unless a person is that age or approaching that age, I think almost everyone would be against that idea. This age bracket has on average more disposable income than any other. Age really doesn’t have a huge amount to do with how much a fan has put into a club over the years. It would be much better to spend that money on reducing overall prices. If anything I’d be in favour of raising the age in line with state pension age.

Its in my interest to reduce the age a bit, but to be fair to all fans and the club I think 65 is the right age for concessions. Most people are retired by 65 or working part time. The discount at Boro is quite generous too. My local theatre offers £1 off to pensioners, while its typically £9 off @ Boro.
