Interesting to say the least the lack of condemnation for this and other sport-washing activities such as the World Cup in Qatar world from the football world and even the football supporters association i cant remember them every saying anything critical.
Not only does sports washing try and legitimises dirty regimes, it also has a knock on financial affect on the football world as a whole. The dirty new money has raised the roof in terms of financial power required to compete at the top of football but this has had a massive detrimental financial effect on teams and leagues below. There needs a fit and proper ownership test which includes, human rights and ethics along with tougher FFP rules or else we should take our ball back and push them into a European super league.

I suspect most would not care where the money came from and there’s the problem. Where football supporting is concerned the majority would be only too happy to see their club succeed at the expense of any moral global issues. We will see a majority watching the WC in Qatar next year and not give a thought to the. conditions the workers went through to build the stadia or the fact that the Taliban HQ was down the road.

I've got to be honest, I can see why newcastle fans are getting excited - its only natural to see the money and potential success for your football club and get carried away.

You have got to be a special kind of single minded selfish individual to not have concerns about who you're jumping into bed with for that success though. I'd hope that if this was boro and we went from where we are now to champions league finalists I'd have the morral strength to not be a part of it as I can't possibly see how anybody who enjoys the rights and freedoms that the UK offers them can condone or support a regime such as the one taking over newcastle.

Some, but it's a minority.

93.8% of their supporter's trust back the takeover, for example.

Their eyes only see £££ signs.

I have seen a few fans against it on social media, but even more using whataboutism to deflect from any criticism they're giving.
