Newcastle takeover .

Your damn right it's a fact we have done bad things in the past we still are not least selling arms to this crowd. However hiding behind not doing the right thing and calling out hatred and intolerance and human rights abuses because we've done similar in the past is pathetic. We should shout from the roof tops we won't tolerate hatred and torture of minorities turning a blind eye and endorsing their legitimacy in football is supporting this barbarsim.
...but we are once again selling arms to them; it was restarted in 2020.

Yes but to Boro not Newcastle. It's bad enough on the BBC Geordie News when The Toon are complete crap, but with pockets full of shekels and winning the odd trophy the fat lass will be insufferable.
I hardly think there'll be too many shekels involved, what with that being the Israeli currency and all. ;)

I think there's no doubt Newcastle will go on to be a threat to Chelsea, Man City, Man Utd et al. It may take some seasons, but it will happen.

Throwing money at football clubs hasn't always worked - but QPR were only about the 6th biggest team in London. Newcastle are the biggest club in the NE so it should work for the Geordies. It may not necessarily be a bad thing for Boro - there could be some positive knock on effects.

We can hardly blame the Newcastle fans for being excited. Fair play to them.

Let’s be honest 99% of our fans would be just as excited.

You can’t really sit judging them - we all consume and watch products associated with dodgy regimes everyday. That’s ok though?
Nah, not having that at all. Whataboutery can be used to excuse anything these days and frequently is. No wonder the state of politics in this country is what it is.

they know exactly what their new owners are about, its been all over the news. They know their club is being used to promote the interests of a vile regime. Their morals have been bought and paid for and they're revelling in it. I would be embarrassed if it was us.

shame on them and shame on football (yet again).

Fair play if you're not one of them, but like it or not 99% of Boro fans would be loving it if it was us. Just as many people can watch F1, boxing or other sports which have had heavy backing from Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern countries without too many qualms.

This isn't on the Newcastle fans and you can't expect them to walk away from the club.

On a point of pedantry I think a recent fan survey found it was something like 94% of Geordies in favour? But yeah agree we'd be no different.

In an ideal world I'd like to see them boycott the club etc. But at the very least I'd have hoped to see some acknowledgement or recognition of the background of their new owner. I'd expect people to have mixed emotions about it at least. And maybe many or most do. But the footage of fans dancing outside the stadium dressed up as a murderer and hailing him as some sort of hero makes me a bit sick to be honest.

The Saudis are definitly trying to buy friends in the sporting world and I know they have done it in education too. They are also starting to prepare for a world that uses much less oil.

Yes I completely agree with that, but the vast majority against it are because its a club they dont like who are benefitting and nothing more. Will the ones who are so vocal on the subject be boycotting next years world cup? Why arent they speaking out against our governments involvement with them?

The Newcastle mentality is that Man City are owned by a similar regime and that critisicm is because everyone hates Newcastle.

When I go to a football match I leave my morals at the door to be honest. I find it immoral that players are paid so much. Yet it's also immoral that I live in such extreme comfort in a first world country while much of the rest of the world lives in much poorer conditions.

See I’m not sure I agree. There’s only so many spaces at that top table.

The historical giants - Liverpool and United - have the benefit of history.

And City, for all their brilliance on the field, have been absolutely brilliant off the field too. Sounds like they want to follow that blueprint but Mansour is a proper owner, and they’ve had the backroom staff from Barcelona, plus Pep Guardiola, plus 10 years of lucky/brilliant recruitment to get to where they are now. Do we really think a basket case like Newcastle will be able to recreate that and make such good decisions at every point along the way like City did?

Some owner’s going to get bored of finishing 5th, they can’t all win.

Badge Change, Stadium Name Change.. how far do you go with the promise of Haaland, Mbappe & Bellingham?

Not so much of a big deal when £500m gets dropped in the January transfer window just to test the waters!
