Newcastle takeover .

It will be interesting to see what reception Bruce gets in their next game; it's a sell out (no pun intended) and it's nailed on he'll eventually be sacked.
Zinedine Zidane would be the big one for them I think, if they are serious about bringing in the likes of Mbappé, Haaland & Bellingham

Good luck to them. About time north east took limelight away from london and the north west domination. Also wonder what gibsons views are now, he not feeling even more left behind? Only positive i can see is we may attract better youngster in the north east to the academy as im sure with all that cash newcastle lads will be forgotten about and defo have less chance if playing in the first team with all the potential foreign superstars arriving.
Not the kind of limelight the North East needs though, is it? Hey welcome to Teesside, twinned with Riyadh, capital of terrorist funding.

It will be all about Newcastle and very little about the wider region.
In truth the city of Newcastle does not need more investment, it already benefits from the lions share.

"fan expectations in Newcastle are far more modest: ambition, recovered dignity, renewed hope" according to Harry Savill, editor of the Newcastle fan site The Spectator’s View. Virtue signalling already.

I think it is going to be unbearable

He's an obvious one, along with Mancini.
Pretty easy to sort with that kind of money. They can take their pick of any available manager right now and drop £200m into the January transfer window without even flinching.. then there's the free agents available in the summer which they should be at the front of the queue for. Bit of a right place at the right time really with Barcelona having difficulties and the super league having been dealt a blow. They genuinely could clean up next season.. and should!

I did a bit on the old board a while back about the future of football 'football franchises' or something like that basically saying that the prem teams will end up being worldwide franchises..

As far as the proposed super league goes SIX of the Twelve founding teams were in the premier league anyway! Doesn't take too much of a stretch to pile in the 20 richest club owners in the English League. The bar had been set at $2.8B buy in..

Newcastle Saudi Arabia $250B
Man City UAE $22B
QPR Malaysia $15.5B
Chelsea Russia $14.5B
Villa Egypt $10.4B
Stoke UK $9.4B
Wolves China $9.14B
Barnsley India $9.1B
Arsenal USA $8.2B
Fulham Pakistan $7.9B
Palace USA $5.7B
Sunderland France $5.6B
Tottenham UK $4.9B
Man Utd USA $4.7B

Leeds Italy $4B
Southampton Switzerland $4B
Leicester Thailand $3.7B
Everton Iran $2.9B
Salford China $2.9B
Liverpool USA $2.8B
-----------------------------------
West Brom China $2.8B
Bristol UK $2.6B
West Ham UK $1.6B
Preston UK $1.4B
Brighton UK $1.3B
Portsmouth USA $1B

of the remaining super league wannabes.. I mean as long as the owners have enough money the shirts are pretty much the same right..

Real Madrid - Leeds
Atletico Madrid - Sunderland
Barcelona - Villa
Juventus - Newcastle
Inter Milan - Everton
AC Milan.. HAIYAAAAAAA UNCLE STEVEN HAS BEEN SO STOOPID, HAIYAAAAAAA COME BACK FENWAY GROUP, WE ARE THE RED LIONS.. SO MUCH BETTER FOR YOU IN GOOD LUCK AND IN GOOD FORTUNE.. WE HAVE NEW KIT AND EVERYFING...

Middlesbrough $0.2B

These players coming in January have some pretty big shoes to fill. Hopefully Zidane is able to keep them all in check!

1 Given - André Onana - Free
2 Coloccini - Antonio Rüdiger - Free
3 Beresford - Alphonso Davies - Loan
4 Batty - Niklas Süle - Free
5 Wijnaldum - Adama Traore - £50m
6 Moncur- Paul Pogba - Free
7 Keegan - Kylian Mbappé - Free
8 Gascoigne - Jude Bellingham - £80m
9 Shearer - Erling Haaland £154
10 Beardsley - Philippe Coutinho - Loan
11 Asprilla - Mo Salah - £75m

£359m is just a drop in the ocean.. they'll probably make that back in shirt sales over the summer. Averages out at £32m a player.. which is what Man City paid for Robinho back in 2008 bit even that much compared premier league transfers this summer gone:

Jack Grealish £105m
Romelu Lukaku £103m
Jadon Sancho £76.50m
Ben White £52m
Tammy Abraham £36m
Ibrahima Konaté £36m
Raphaël Varane £36m
Emiliano Buendía £34m
Martin Ødegaard £32m
Kurt Zouma £31m

and that's for teams that had premier league squads to start off with and as I've said £359m is just a drop in the ocean to the Saudi lot. I think the Geordies have waited long enough.. no point having money burning a hole in your pocket. might as well crack on with a new 120,000 seater stadium an all.

Be lovely to see Spurs beat them at Home next time out. Watch the wannabes turn on Bruce in an embarrassing and very public fashion. Table looks a picture atm. I understand that Conte has already binned them off.
Bookies not altogether convinced they can beat the drop.

I was just reading the various stories on the BBC about this deal and I don't think it's going to be as plain sailing for Newcastle as some think.
Given the nature of the takeover, it will come under a lot of scrutiny from the PL, the other clubs as well as the likes of Amnesty. They'll all want to ensure that it isn't the Saudi state running things and so I can't imagine they'll be allowed to just go out and buy a title winning side in January. It could 3 or 4 seasons to build the squad some on here think they'll end up with. Who in the current side apart from Saint Maxima is worthy of keeping? Just think how much it'll cost to buy a starting 11 and cover to be able to compete with the established top clubs at home and abroad.
I won't deny they'll have a decent team eventually, but how quick that is will depend on who they get as manager as well as the squad. They should be safe from relegation for the foreseeable though 😁
