Neil Warnock surpasses all my Expectations

We’ve had loads of players out of position - McNair CB for most of the season, Spence and Coulson behind Assomablonga vs Brentford, Marvin Johnson playing everywhere.

We were the 4th lowest scoring team in the league until last night.

I really like Warnock, we should have got him 10 years ago so there’s no argument that he’s a quality manager. I was probably the happiest on here whilst he was appointed whilst many were moaning.

But there isn’t a big difference at all between what he and Pulis in have done when you look at results and performances.

People blamed Pulis for Britt being rubbish, he’s still rubbish.

People blamed Pulis for lack of goals, we still don’t score enough goals.

The biggest differences are the overpaid mercenaries are gone so we now have players who want to be here and are fans aren’t there to get on the team’s backs when they misplace a pass.

McNair is better at CB , he may prefer midfield but he’s a better CB clearly.

We used Coulson and Spence high up the pitch in games due to a lack of options and trust in certain players because of fitness etc. Pulis played players out of positions for no reason really, there was no excuse for some of the defensive teams he put out, under Warnock I always feel like the team he puts out is to the win the games I never felt that during Pulis second season at times. I don’t think they are at all comparable, the truth is, I and many others clearly feel Warnock is the right man to take us forward for as long as he wants it and is on another level to any manager we have had in a long time.

You mean everything that doesn't stand up to your narrative?

And you say others (me) spout absolute nonsense?

We’ve played players out of position this season, as we did under Pulis.

Only six teams have scored less goals than us at the moment, similar to our record under Pulis.

We have the best defence in the league, as we did under Pulis.

Which of those statements are incorrect?

Have a look at this gem of a team fielded by Pullis.
This was just one step up from his normal team of centre half’s.
Fry at marauding right wing back!!
He actually played for a period of the game as a holding midfielder!! With Ayala at right back.
Pullis just wanted a team filled with centre half’s.
Comparing him to Warnock with the players Pullis had available is just a joke.
One of the subs scored twice for Barcelona the other night but Pullis would rather play Rudy / hugill and any centre half he could squeeze in the team. Before anybody says we never had any full backs it was the default option of Pullis to play centre half’s at full back.
We got ran ragged that night, should of been 4-0 down at half time.
At the moment we have 3 recognised centre half’s in our squad Fry, Hall and Wood.

Pullis managed to play 4 in one team along with Friend with Shotton absent.
It was absolute torture to watch a lot of matches under Pullis

Which of those statements are incorrect?
Has warnock signed/loaned 5 players in positions we don’t need?

Has Warnock sold our best striker and failed to replace him?

Has Warnock wasted the best part of £25m in the transfer market?

Has Warnock singled players out for criticism?

Has Warnock broke an long unwanted standing home record?

Has Warnock alienated the fans?

Has Warnock created a toxic atmosphere?

If Pulis played Spence and Coulson behind Akpom when he had Roberts, Browne and Britt on the bench the same fans praising Warnock would be screaming for Pulis to be sacked.

Incredible.

And some on here still defend the charlatan.

Quite staggering.

I'd give up lads. It's like trying to argue with Trump. Pog has a pathological inability to accept that he might be wrong. You're never going to win.

I think he's probably convinced himself he enjoyed watching us under Pulis. Possibly the only person in the country, but fair enough. It's erm, certainly an opinion. 😂

Well if you’re going to use a tough away game as the standard, what’s the difference?

Well it would of been a lot more attacking than having Shotton and George friend as your attacking outlets with 4 centre midfielders playing aswell.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the way Warnock approaches games. Look at the selection last night, bold and aggressive and then made the right subs to kill the game off.

I am just so glad we have Warnock now, all I say is good luck Sheff wed fans.

Gestede and Hugill up front. Gives you shudders. Anti-football. We had the resources and players under Pulis to boss the league, but completely wasted the chance. Adama his one saving grace.

Point to anything I’ve said that’s not true.

So you’ve lost the argument on results and style of play (as you’ve acknowledged nothing in my previous post) so you’ve now moved on from your central argument to behind the scenes.

I don’t know how many different ways to tell you our manager doesn’t identify and sign the players. If the chairman says X player needs to be sold he has little or no say.

We had a bad run of results, nobody is denying that.

Our fans are toxic, they turned on and booed a manager who delivered them world class attacking football, promotions, 3 cup finals and the only manager to win is a trophy and take us into Europe. Their toxicity has nothing to do with Pulis.

If Warnock had Pulis' squad, we'd be clear at the top of the league.

With Gestede, Downing, Friend, Leadbitter, Clayton, etc? Unlikely. They were terrible but sucking so much cash out the club.

People forget how terribly unbalanced the squad was after the Premier League season and the £50m splurge.

Awful players on massive contracts we couldn’t shift until their deals ran down.

Now they’re gone if Warnock was given money to get another 1-2 quality players at this level I have no doubt he’d get us promotion.

Agree

I know it couldn't get any worse than the tripe served up by Pulis & Woodgate, and I knew Warnock would improve us, but not to the extent of what he's done inside 5/6 months.

Our best manager by an absolute country mile since we parted ways with Karanka.
Agree Marv, just the final sentence a bit too long (in my humble opinion)

Pulis as a character was very unlikeable, he came into the club like he was doing everyone a favour. He beat the confidence out of our top scorer (Britt), wrote off our effective attacking full backs (Christie and Fabio) and replaced them with centre backs, upset probably our best technical player who now plays for Barca (Braithwaite) and then gave up on Bamford. He then complained about how much money the club had wasted on these players before wasting huge sums of money on donkeys like Flint, and when he did actually strike gold with a player (McNair), he either played him out of position or froze him out. The football was largely forgettable, although you do have to give a lot of credit to him for embracing and getting the best out of Adama. Pulis' final insult was his recommendation of Woodgate as a manager. Compare that with Warnock who was dealt a much tougher hand with an inexperienced struggling squad low on confidence, in contrast he has come in and embraced the squad he was given and improved players like Bola, Dijksteel and Johnson immeasurably. He talks up the players which seems to be reflect in good performances on the pitch. His signings have been astute and the football is improving every week with the team and squad having an identity. The team spirit and togetherness of the squad is also very apparent and obviously something Warnock was keen to instil. Warnock is far superior to Pulis if we are doing comparisons.

We actually look decent going forward under Warnock, but lack a clinical edge. Put, say, Bamford up front and we'd be scoring a great deal more....oh wait Pulis put Bamford on the wing in favour of Gestede didn't he?

Cherry picking players? You somehow have failed to mention Pulis also had Randolph, Ayala, Gibson, Jack Harrison (and imagine if he played him - looking at how a proper manager in Bielsa has managed Harrison), Adama and Bamford in his locker....he even had Braithwaite for half a season.

Pulis as a character was very unlikeable, he came into the club like he was doing everyone a favour.

Based on what?

Your first sentence immediately trips you up. The people are aggressively anti Pulis always ruin their argument by resorting to exaggerations or lies.

From the moment he came here he spoke about feeling a connection with the area as his dad worked in the steelworks, how the people were very warm and welcoming, the area was beautiful, he took the players on bike rides to Whitby to appreciate the area.

What more were fans expecting? Him to come round and wash their car?

As for blaming him for Assombalonga, Warnock has come in and blown smoke up his backside, talked him up in the media and gave him the captains armband and guess what? He’s still s***

Which is exactly how many games were under Pulis, plenty of goal attempts but just couldn’t score.

He played left side for 6 games, to fit Assomablonga or Gestede central.

Whilst in that role he average a goal every other game.

Try again....

Really? You seriously think we had 'plenty of goal attempts' under Pulis?

Jesus, you seriously are blinded by the love of Pulis.

How many goal attempts did we have in Pulis' biggest game in charge away to Aston Villa in the play off 2nd leg?

Where did Bamford start the game? And where did he end up playing?

I won't hold my breath.
