Feeling of a deja vu. I wrote similar in February it seems. Why do people resurrect old threads? Us over 50s can't remember what we wrote yesterday, let alone 9 months and two lockdowns agoMick Buckley, when we signed him thought that's a good signing as he had played at a decent level for Everton and Sunderland. Despite seeing most of his performances in 84/85 can't remember him ever doing anything of note, in fact he may have been poor enough to be dropped from one of the worst Boro teams ever!
He was one of many over the years who 'puts in a shift'. That's the bare minimum you'd expect.I`l add to the Dary ONeil list.
He flattered to deceive.
Ran everywhere, but did nothing.

Couldn't agree more always thought he did great job for us. It all depends on what you call boring playing it simple and short is more difcult than most fans imagine. A good midfielder doesnt necessarily have to play Hollywood passes. Look at the likes of david batty ray wilkins ronnie whelan all played it simply but they were very good players mark proctor second time round was quite a sideways passer but was still decent. In all honesty, I thought Peake was better than many fans credited him with imho, I think the memories are a bit hazy. He did a grand job as the holding midfielder in our relegation year, he even got the players player of the year award too as I recall. I accept the role he was asked to perform was unglamorous and agree he was a boo boy target for a while, but he actually did his job reasonably well for me, There was a lot of Mickey taking from the fans regarding his relationship to Lennie though.
What? He was great in the tackle. Not many skills but he put it about.Trevor Putney.
Non entity of a player.
Okon's a good shout.
I don't think boring always means bad, but he was both for us.
Doriva was boring but pretty good; I think he got a lot of undeserved stick because he was often seen as being picked at the expense of a forward.
At the time, playing 1 up front was seen as fundamentally negative.
Yes I remember him at Sunderland, yelling & snapping at Boro players when leading one nil then losing 2-1, not a term I'd use TBH, but each to their own we can't all like & dislike the same playersWhat? He was great in the tackle. Not many skills but he put it about.
