Most ‘boring’ ever Boro midfield player you have seen play !!

Don O'Riordon, signed by the late, great Willie Maddren, don't think he was to pleased with his performances
During the bad weather, muddy pitches, I use to say to our dad, how come he goes off the pitch with clean shorts

Colin Ross used to buzz around like a bee then do nothing with the ball - maybe a 5 yard side pass....never a roar of expectation when he got the ball

Colin Ross had a boring career too.

1980–1983 Middlesbrough 38 (0)
1983 Chesterfield (loan) 6 (0)
1983 Darlington 14 (0)
1985 South Bank

In recent memory Pulis played both JOM and Clayton at home. That's about as negative as you could ever have😂. I imagine about 2 goals between them in 5 years.

A two man CM who wouldn't cross the halfway line and only pass sideways or backwards.

Mick Buckley, when we signed him thought that's a good signing as he had played at a decent level for Everton and Sunderland. Despite seeing most of his performances in 84/85 can't remember him ever doing anything of note, in fact he may have been poor enough to be dropped from one of the worst Boro teams ever!

I don't think defensive players necessarily equates to boring, I love a good tackle (or a bad one - Dean Glover anyone?)

Was it Isiah Osborne who WGS signed on loan? Meh.....

Tbf to okon ( I wasn’t his biggest fan either but) he played for lazio and captained his country so not too bad.

his honours roll

Club Brugge
Lazio
It matters not a jot what he achieved anywhere else though Zorro, it is how he was at Boro. He was the biggest non entity to wear the shirt for me.

Some of the players listed by others were terrible players at Boro, Ross, Heard, Buckley, Thompson, Thomson, O’Neil etc were truly terrible but that wasn’t the question asked. The question was BORING. Okon was exceptionally Boring with a capital B, when he was on the ball, literally nothing ever happened, time stood still, I swear tumbleweed even blew across the pitch.

Got to agree about Paul Okon .... if you look up boring in the english dictionary ....his name is next to it !

Kevin Thomson was equally boring, but he didn't want to be on the pitch anyway so we didn't have to suffer watching him on many occasions.

Isiah Osborne but yes andy peake looked like an insurance salesman playing football

Poor Andy peake, maybe he was boring but not so boring vs the then league champions Leeds in 92 from what I remember he played a blinder that day???

In all honesty, I thought Peake was better than many fans credited him with imho, I think the memories are a bit hazy. He did a grand job as the holding midfielder in our relegation year, he even got the players player of the year award too as I recall. I accept the role he was asked to perform was unglamorous and agree he was a boo boy target for a while, but he actually did his job reasonably well for me, There was a lot of Mickey taking from the fans regarding his relationship to Lennie though.
