Morris came on 78 minutes too late

We just don't look as strong in the midfield without him but as I said on the match thread it's important to remember his season started in January and it's a long old season in the Championship.

We need him available for as much as the season as possible and probably need to manage him a bit to get him through, especially if he's gonna be flying around the world playing for the US.
 
I put this on the official game thread and needs to be taken into consideration when discussing Morris.

His game for the USA against New Zealand was in Cincinnati which I would argue is at least a 9-hour flight and the UK is 5 hours ahead. Anyone who travels will tell you that would take it out of you.

Leaving him out smacks of arrogance imo. I said in an earlier thread that if we’d been playing Leeds or Burnley today then he’d have been on the field from the start. Barlaser has shown time after time after time that he is not the player we need if we are serious about getting into the Premier League. Morris should’ve started today. There’s no midweek match after the absolutely disgraceful circus that was the Stoke game so there’s just no excuse for leaving your standout midfielder up to this point on bench. It’s nonsense. We thought we could roll Preston over at half pace, like we thought we could Swansea(which we got away with), Derby(absolutely sh*t defeat), Stoke(an absolute embarrassment) and Pompey(bailed out at the death with a penalty). This is not what we are supposed to be doing this season.

I can't remember Hackney and Barlaser as a centre midfield pairing playing well? .
Again today I can't put my finger on it, but they never seem to click?
Morris/ Howson with Hackney or Barlaser seems to have more rythem and control of a game.
I was disappointed in Lath, thought he didn't see the same zip with him.

Conway played well first half.

Thought they did a job on us, man marked Hackney and we struggled to create chances.

Carrick needs to make subs earlier, 10- 15 minutes isn't enough time for player to get into the game and make an impact.
 
Hope Morris is fit for the Sunderland game - took what looked a nasty challenge from Greenwood and was hobbling for the rest of the match.

Morris a big miss. Need Riley back also.

Jones needs the competition. Very hit and miss atm. Doak is likely to steal his shirt at some point this season.

I said earlier in the week that I think Doak will take Jones's shirt by the end of October... I now think he'll have it next week

Morris played 86 minutes for USA on Wednesday, he didn't get back till yesterday, exhausted and didn't have time to even go though tactics or who should be picked up at set pieces...
Clueless, knee jerk reaction tbh 👍
